I'm going to keep my eyes open for the new Danny Dorling book about London property this time.
His books are always a mine of amazing facts. If you get the chance, read So you think you know about Britain?

In case anybody thinks this is dodgy, I don't know him and I earn no money from saying all this. Masomnia's met him, though.

What went wrong so that he is an ex? Tell me to mind my own damn business, naturally, whenever appropriate.

What is wrong with your raised beds? Just size, or grandeur, or what?

Do you have brothers? OH was saying that another son was in his comfort zone, as he has almost no knowledge of small girls - no aunts, no sisters, no daughters.

If they were in their respective elites, perhaps they'd have been able to stay well out of the dirty end of conflicts - that's what being in an elite is for, partly, isn't it?

No idea why they are ex's. I was never told and never asked. You could use some cross examination techniques to find out why, I think a month in a camper van in NZ may have contributed. It has been over for two plus years and they have both dated other people since. They really are just friends.

Our raised bed is small and a bit of an awkward shape (my fault) it is however not very deep only about 6" so quite useless really, more of a bordered bed.
My Dad's got a real bee in his bonnet about shoes - he loathes people being barefoot or in socks in any house he has any say in. He'll put up with people wearing slippers, in a noisy kind of silence. But living on a farm currently doubling as a marsh, it's normal for people to change out of wellies or riding boots into normal shoes as soon as they come in, otherwise the house would be ankle-deep in mud.

I've never seen my Dad in slippers, I doubt he owns any. Wellies, boots, or normal shoes, that's his lot. He does have an ancient Barbour, but I can't quite see it as posh, it's more revolting than anything else.

We usually ask people to keep their shoes on. Otherwise their socks will collect dog hairs and grime.

I bought OH a pair of Seibel mules to wear as slippers for a Christmas present. His "first slippers". Purchase prompted by him falling down stairs as his socks slipped on carpet.

At the moment, he has to evolve from being a sea creature to a land animal every evening before he can get out of the bath. Fortunately, it's a compressed process, otherwise he'd only get bathed every few million years.....

    Very funny and absolutely adorable

I am definitely the poorest NP on the bathroom front. One bathroom with loo and a shower over tub. Shared by us all.

Our only other loo is outside at the back of the garage. Brrr.

Only one bathroom here too - also with a shower over the tub. I've been told that it is small enough to wash one's feet whilst seated on the throne :) but not with my short legs.

Only one loo. With a dodgy fill valve :rotfl:

    Not yet you aren't.

I am still only accessing the bathroom of doom, the dodgy temporary electric shower over bath. (Only meant to be needed for three months......two years now). No hot water to sink or anything else upstairs. .. The floor by loo is held together by duct tape.

We have a beautiful bathroom.......it just doesn't have any water going to it till the heating goes in.......

    Site meeting Friday!!!!!!!

We've got an upstairs bathroom with shower over it and toliet.
Downstairs there's a shower and WC under the stairs.

The shower is positioned where you can't see it when you open the door. It uses what looks like cupboard space in the kitchen. I'm embarassed to say I dind't know it was there during my first viewing.

I agree 're toilet bath combos. I like to have both in one room. However if I was to move again it would be a deal breaker to have one loo. Never again. Two loos minimum.

My sentiments exactly. The only way I'd buy a house with only one loo would be if there was somewhere obvious to put another one, and enough money left over after buying it to put the second loo in immediately. I also feel there should definitely be one downstairs, so you don't have to let random downstairs visitors go upstairs if they want to use it.

Jelly you should go look. Even if you decide it's not for you, it will start to give you an idea of what is important to you.

Yes yes. Definitely. It also helps the EAs to get to know what you like so they can have you in mind when new properties come in.
I think doozergirl's almost exactly the same age as Isaac - born mid-2005? Or perhaps I've misremembered. I'd love to meet doozerkids, and Michael's DKs, and Lydia's pair, too. And other NKs, too, of course.

So the tentative suggestion of a summer meet up with kids, somewhere outdoors in the vicinity of Oxford is looking good, is it? I would suggest the Cotswold Farm Park, but I imagine it would be rather difficult to get to for people wanting to come from London on public transport, and it's very exposed and windy so absolutely freezing in bad weather, even in summer. Anybody got any other suggestions?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Predictably its causing a row on the relationships forum.

Try having your back to the wall, shoulder to the wheel, and nose to the grindstone, that'll give an interesting mental image?

A mate of mine from school once had to sit through some torture involving a company "motivational speaker", where he said several times, "there's no "I" in "TEAM"!" as if he was being really, really clever. Mate could only come up with a list of other words which have no "I" in them, such as "fool", "half-baked", and "ego", for the rest of the speech.

    :rotfl:
Some stupidly expensive London places have a bath in an actual bedroom, with a screen or step down, rather than a separate en suite. A fashion I'd loathe, who wants to sleep in a post-bath or spouse-having-bath steam room?

    My sentiments entirely.

I like my [STRIKE]en suite[/STRIKE] master bathroom, although at present it doubles as a family bathroom because DS and DD like to use it too. I tell myself to enjoy them being young enough to want to, because they'll grow out of it soon enough. It has a much nicer shower over the bath than the family bathroom, anyway. One day I shall get round to replacing the other one, but there's no point ATM because they wouldn't use it anyway, and we don't have visitors staying overnight and using the shower often enough to make it worth doing just for them. When my London friend and her girls come, I tell them to use the one in my master bathroom, because they're the sort of friends I know well enough to be quite happy to let do that.

TBH some of this conversation might need to move to t'other place... I have some savings etc, but not sure I'd be posting that here...

Good idea. I've just been over there. It is still functioning, although nobody has posted for months.
We put an offer in, a bit below asking, will see what happens. They are going to revert tomorrow.

Best of luck, chewy. Let us know how it goes.
I miss bugslet. I wanted her to see the cat in a hat picture. I hoped she'd forgive it being a not a dog but a cat that it had a hat.

Have I missed the cat pic? I don't recall seeing one. :(

I mildly object to the fact that posters or Mse have removed posts leaving mine so it looks like I started it or fanned flames . Actually. No I don't really object at all. :o. I just felt maybe I should from hanging around down there :rotfl:
