Super fast! How much faster are they saying high speed will make it?0 -
I'm not sure - it's faster already because of the upgrade a few years ago. It only stops once before Birmingham International, at Coventry....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Would making it 20 minutes quicker change life...to the value of 42bn or whatever it is supposed to cost?I think....0 -
Growing up there were 4 of us in a house with 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (shower over bath) and 1 downstairs loo.
We now have 5 bedrooms, 2 with ensuite + 1 family bathroom and a downstairs loo. Our en-suite has bath, separate shower and loo, the other en-suite has a shower and loo. Possibly too many for our needs. In fact both boys have commented that one of the things going to uni taught them was how to share bathrooms with others.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It would mean people could commute from further afield.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The garden is the big draw for me. No floor plan, so I'll be contacting the EA for paper documents...
That pond would probably have to come out.
That garage looks bizarrely shaped to me. That might be a good thing though - could get a bike.
Area isn't great, but not bad either.
Topically, it is at the top of a hill. Decent views. Faces a good way for the garden to get loads of sunlight.
I actually think it is a little overpriced myself.
I'd be using a room for a music room - cd's, vinyl & a really nice stereo, having all those separate from the room with the tv in it. Not sure where all the books would go. Could create a decent guest room too.
I'm seriously thinking of going for a look.
Jelly you need to go and look at that house. And no don't go planning on putting a hundred bathrooms in it. I'm with NDG and chewie on that one. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Not to me, Michaels, but I go there a couple of times a year, so I'm the wrong person to ask!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

. In fact both boys have commented that one of the things going to uni taught them was how to share bathrooms with others.
Yep, that's sort of what I meant. But also, if you can share bathrooms you can share other things. Desk space, office space. A house with a partner ....and later kids.
I don't think its always the best thing to do.....to have enough space for everything.
Because we aren't ' a family' in that sense our provision needs are slightly different.0 -
It would mean people could commute from further afield.
Its already a shorter journey (and cheaper ) from here or where I used to live from where people commute both daily and weekly.
Is, with the green issue, and climate change very much at the fore of issues with weather change and an increasing clamour at the beginning of the coalition term to have commutes shorter ( from which I presumed taking work to people) not an equally sensible use of money?
(Edit...question btw...not point of debate really......my head has retained NO high speed info at all really. It just decided that was not necessary to retain for my function so its been lobbed of as ballast. I have genuinely no opinion as to the best option here and I don't know what to think... I can manage the thinking two opposing the things quite comfortably, but thinking neither is quite daunting really. Because I cannot retain the info or process it I feel all at sea with it in the debate)0 -
