I got 27% . I blame the study. And shoes off isn't posh, it's moneysaving when you have a smallholding.

Pfft. People just tramp through here with boots on. I've given up caring. :D.

Those wet hovers are amazing things though. I will be glad when its all solid floors that clean though.

Makes me wonder. Maybe we should bring stone all the way through instead of wood in the front bit........:o

It's very easy to roll the wheel. I'm comfy with this.

It rolls easily. However, I also want to be able to press it. Pressing the scroll wheel while pointing at a link in an internet browser opens the link in a new tab, which is something I do all the time.

    So...
Either the 'stopcock' isn't a stopcock after all, or I'm being to cautious in trying to close it.
I've checked back in the paperwork from the vendors and they say that the stopcock is under the sink (as is standard, but not where my 'stopcock' was). There is definitely some pipework there, but unfortunately it is largely behind a cupboard back.

I don't feel like I'm cut out for big girl pants tonight lir :(

The first time I needed to turn off my stopcock in this house, it was too stiff and too inaccessible for me to turn fully. The builder from down the road (who was away for the weekend but talked to me over the phone to tell me what to do until he came to fix it the following day) said to turn it as far as I could, and then leave the cold tap on in the kitchen, so that the water trickling through the partially open stopcock could trickle out of the kitchen tap and not make it upstairs where the problem was (with the toilet cistern). When he came to fix things, he made me a lovely new stopcock with a big lever to turn through 90 degrees rather than a round tap thing, and a new access hole to get at it with. :))
I did it earlier today and got only 40%. I was mortified. My main failing was not knowing any Ruperts.

I do know a Rupert and still only got 40%!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I need a new stop in the feed room ( hence road turning off) because the turning one leaks even when off. Its been repaired a few times and fails. Since leaks were repaired on our system our pressure is up a little ( yay) but my old plumbing cannot cope with it. House is fine now...all replaced really....yard .....:(

Before we're do pipes really need to think about how we might use that building in the future.

E.g. Would a big south facing picture window with a view ( but also opening into a drive ) be better in a living area or a kitchen area of an open plan down stairs? The only window in the upstairs is at other end, so common sense says keep bathroom above kitchen, put tiny one sided kitchen on west wall, that can open out in summer.....

    I don't know.

I love tiled floor myself. Don't like stone because it takes a lot of cleaning, especially porus stone which can be a nightmare.

    Wood is okay, too.

No. Your house is cold enough as it is. Wood is much warmer underfoot than stone. It's also harder to fall on if anyone in the house isn't always 100% steady on their feet. (OK, that's just my biassed opinion. Do think about temperature as well as the other considerations, though.)

Thanks lot :) I do know it shouldn't make the house fall down! There it's a puddle under the overflow though (how I noticedthere was a problem) and some big pipe thing (drain? Top is slightly higher than the roof) that is the height of the house which I think the water is running down. My big pipe thing (its a technical term) is metal... (next doors is plastic) I'm guessing it isn't too cheap to replace.

Think this is just the house telling me to stop procrastinating with the jobs that need doing! And to locate the stopcock. If I text my neighbour tomorrow, there is a good chance Mr neighbour will pop round as I think he fitted their bathroom...

Edit: diy book says the big pipe thing is a soil pipe :)

The trade term for your big pipe is the 'poo pipe'. 'Sh!! shoot' is also a popular term. If you want to be grown up about it, it's a soil stack. Plastic is very inexpensive indeed - you can replace cast iron that but it's probably just a loose connection. Cost is in labour.

I'm thinking of having floor dug out for underfloor heating. Its 'just' three rooms. So stone might actually work out warmer.

I think wood would look more appropriate :D

Yep it does that. Never did that myself till today. Too much of a mac background to get into these baroque extravegant flourishes they're designing into basic gadgets now.
