We're currently having our heating changed (all electric) and are looking at having our water system changed next year. Do you find it makes a big difference? We have really hard water here.

Big difference. No limescale on the kettle and the taps and shower head. I assume that the heating pipes are also clearer.

We went all the way and also had a reverse osmosis filter on the drinking water tap, otherwise you have to make the decision not to have the softener work on the kitchen tap - which means scaled up kitchen tap and kettle still.

We now get ice that is clear as opposed to white.

Would you like to re-phrase that?

Ah.....you see how rarely I shop:D. I never get the coffee....its always in some random location with a queue.

    :o. Very poor money saver.

I think I'm going to have to try to get back to being a proper moneysaver for a while. Looks like I'm going to be supporting local tradespeople a little sooner than I hoped!

There is the slightest of chances it was phrased like that on purpose...

Nikkster, I am positive your bathroom will cope. Our old bathroom has been leaking for two years ...bit longer and we are still ok...just.

Occasional plant and mushroom growing, and the soft patch in the floor with structural duct tale won't last for ever :) but its made me feel I can say to you your leak, while not great for your house, probably won't kill it till you get a plumber in or the valve changed.

( its the kind of time I wish we lived closer ...fir is enthusiastic rather than a dab hand at many DIY jobs, but he changes these rather swiftly now)

Edit: anyway...I just on't want you to have that sicky sinky will the house fall down feeling. It won't, not going by my bathroom. When we get the Lino up it will make a GREAT picture.

Thanks lot :) I do know it shouldn't make the house fall down! There it's a puddle under the overflow though (how I noticedthere was a problem) and some big pipe thing (drain? Top is slightly higher than the roof) that is the height of the house which I think the water is running down. My big pipe thing (its a technical term) is metal... (next doors is plastic) I'm guessing it isn't too cheap to replace.

Think this is just the house telling me to stop procrastinating with the jobs that need doing! And to locate the stopcock. If I text my neighbour tomorrow, there is a good chance Mr neighbour will pop round as I think he fitted their bathroom...

Edit: diy book says the big pipe thing is a soil pipe :)

    I got 33%.

Think I only got that because it's strictly shoes off inside the house.

I got 27% . I blame the study. And shoes off isn't posh, it's moneysaving when you have a smallholding.

Edit: The time to worry is when one strain of fungy is battling another strain in an evolutionary arms race that will lead to the formation of a new sapient species. Or, when part of your house looks like my windows, in other words.
