Curiousity is getting the better of me. I wonder, if it is a Jack Russell or something, whether it was thinking "woohoo, adventure", or whether animals are far more sensible than that.

Far more sensible is my vote.

They'd like to GO down a hole , terriers, having one open up underneath them? Different. Tht said, I know a jack Russell who was run over , shook himself off and continued on his day.

Yep - only if you are very lucky will you have a screwdriver valve on the cold supply to the toilet. However it may be that if you clean/de-gunk the valve itself it will seal again properly with the ballcock? Unfortunately trying to do the cleaning out with the water on is not recommended. Could the stopcock be in the cupboard under the stairs. It seems odd in a rented student house for it not to be accessible at all.

    Silvercar, how is your mother?

Fir called non RP today to see how things are (since non RP put phone down on me last week we had not heard and fir said to leave it till he called......the Ps like him better.....everyone does ;). Non RP denies the incident but is alright which is all that matters. However they have now taken house of market , losing the only decent offer they'd had . They want to wait .....and put it back on the market,.......for more money. Sigh.

( omg, DH is telling me more stuff that non RP said.....its barking, absolutely barking......but funny. :))

Me too although that's because I want to get my slippers on rather than any desire to keep anything clean. I am also managed by a Lord so I counted that which may be cheating.

Thanks for the tip. I am about to buy myself some jewellery from Argos and will pop out in the morning for a red top.

My only consolation is that my daughter was a lot posher than I am. I cannot believe we are related. It may account for why she thinks I am the cleaner.

I am only 27% posh. I will whoop and holler if I score lower than Pastures.

A disappointing 17%, but as long as I get under PN I'll be happy.

I think I might have a stopcock in my new bathroom, I remember some talk of that.

Its been so long since I went in there to admire it.....

[STRIKE]I'm pretty sure[/STRIKE] Just checked - no cocks under the stairs :)

Definitely not undoing anything toilet-related without turning off the water (that is where the hunt for the stopcock started). Will have a look for a screwdriver valve, but don't remember seeing one.

I'm pretty sure I never even thought to look for the stopcock in any of the student houses that I lived in... that's what landlords are there for!

Anyhow, I think it's time to draw an end to tonight's adventures in plumbing. I'll just have to try not to think about the dripping overflow until tomorrow.

We didn't have a working stop !!!! at all until I got the water softener installed.

We're currently having our heating changed (all electric) and are looking at having our water system changed next year. Do you find it makes a big difference? We have really hard water here.
