I think wood would look more appropriate
Ah, well, that would make a difference. Keep us posted with what you decide.Yep it does that. Never did that myself till today. Too much of a mac background to get into these baroque extravegant flourishes they're designing into basic gadgets now.
Thank you! You have just brought to mind a delightful mental image of a baroque mouse with ornate squiggly colours and shapes all over it, and given me a smile.
Talking of mental images... Recently I heard a speaker say to his audience, "This is our only window of opportunity and we must grasp it now." And I thought, surely the point of a window of opportunity is to go through it while it's still open, isn't it? And if you're grasping it, you're still stuck in it, not going through it at all, and I had an amusing mental image of somebody trying to get through a window but hanging on tight to both sides of it.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Sounds like something to mention to the plumbers and/ or builders I shall soon be finding. At least I know some trade speak now
I don't think its leaking (yet) but its definitely quite rusty.0 -

Lydia, I'm afraid you've left the corridor of metaphor, fallen through the trapdoor of distraction and descended into the cellar of confusion. No good can come of this.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

That sounds like something about time and destiny from the end of an episode of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.Wikpedia wrote:The show draws to a close with the chairman imparting some final words of wisdom intended to evoke time, destiny, fate and eternity, undercut with silliness. For example: "...And so, as the hunter of time blasts the moose of eternity, and the dairy counter worker of fate sighs and grabs her mop..." Lyttelton's final sign-off on the show, shortly before his death in April 2008, was: "And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show."
Finding amusement from considering metaphors literally runs in my family. During my parents' engagement, they were living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, and writing letters to each other (in the dim and distant days before email and skype). They were having some kind of argument by correspondence when one of them described the other as a pig-headed goose, and then stopped to think what that meant, and attempted to draw such a creature. I think the original argument fizzled out at that point.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? DW is a fan of that show!
I lived through what your parents did and there was no email but Mercury Phones had just started! Phew!
I found out all about bucket shops and the weird fact that travel agents used to close on Saturday afternoons! :eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Would you like to re-phrase that?I am still mystified by the red top thing. Am I being very dim?
)
After reading any post where micheals refers to Pastures I find it helpful to add "as the actress said to the bishop". If the post still makes sense then you know he intended the innuendo.
If you can't be bothered, then it is reasonable to assume he intends the innuendo.
"Red top" refers to tabloid newspapers. Usually heavy on pictures, have a 'red top' The Sun rather than the compact versions of broadsheets.0 -
We're you ok so early this morning spirit?
Feeling smug. Animals all done, walked, fed, cleaned i M washed and sitting done by quater to 8..
At this rate I'll get down stairs vacuumed today too. (I need to do some cleaning, but have decided I will NOT bother with windows till spring proper, the weather has made my windows filthy, but so be it)0 -

My parents lived through it too and for them there was only snail mail. Dad used to return mum's letters with her spelling mistakes highlighted and corrected!
She must not have minded too much, in June this year they will celebrate 54 years of marriage. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Dog wanted to go outside - so I awoke to his scratching at the door. I did go back to sleep though, have walked the dog and am off to work. Ideally I should be there by now:( I am shattered.
You sound so full of beans it is lovely. Suggest you do something 'nice' whilst you have the energy. This is OH's advice to me, so that I do not use my extra time off doing chores. When I read your post about vacuuming I knew what he meant, and wish that you spend time just enjoying yourself today.0 -

Its really amazing that nice children are all so nice. You know the doozer kids are sweet too. Doozerkid1 is seriously hard working. And doozergirl the tiny (who is probably quite a bit bigger now) looked like a doll and was so brave with my dogs, and polite and just sweet. She looked like a child from a picture book but also quite like her daddy.
She was a delight. Friendly, polite, excellent manners, & a happy person. She also goes to my old school, so we had plenty to chat about.
It was lovely having a cracking conversation with a young nice person. Young people & kids get loads of bad press, & it is nice to be reminded that the majority are good people. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
