Oh just like to add, thanks to the star mapping free app we now know that very bright star near the moon is in fact Jupiter! How cool is that? Just hanging about shining waiting to be id'd.

I'm very much hoping to wake up to news that Leon is nothing worse than an inconvenience.

    *NOT* watching Benefits Street.

Just got off the phone after talking for over half an hour to a dear friend about MIL. That's over half an hour of a man talking about feelings. Have you any idea how scary that is? Anyway, we're persevering with MIL, at least for now.

So, as a smoker and a driver, would you agree with Nikkster's suggestion that smoking and eating are probably similar in their level of distraction while driving?

If we are really serious about making sure that drivers aren't distracted, we should ban children under the age of about 12 from travelling in cars.

All the research suggest it is not car control that is the problem but distraction, thus even hands free phone calls are an issue, conversation with a passenger is not as they react to your concentration on driving increasing and stop talking.
SOmething similar happened a few years ago near where my parents lived in SE London - a giant hole opened up one evening on Blackheath Hill (the A2). About the size of a bus. Caused, in that case, by old chalk mines. It's known there were lots of them, many illegal even at the time, but exactly where isn't always clear:

(Natch, being the Telegraph, the focus of the article about the hole is on local house prices.....)

I remember that (or the traffic nightmares it caused anyway.

It's later as in another day. He doesn't know when.

I'm off to work but it's about the last place I want to be right now.
