No, Bob and his cronies have called off their Tube strike.
Apparently they are going to negotiate instead, which is a novel idea.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Before we left this morning DH said i'll check railway, you check gen's results, (while we both watched weather).
I'm starting to understand how one of those rare birds that gets twitchers all excited feels. I'll try to go tomorrow, ok everyone? Try.
Best wishes to all the potential floodees. Not nice. When I worked in France our shared house/flat got flooded by a blocked sewer. It was horrible. You really have my sympathies.0 -

Ah,.....not big enough news ATM? Something else able to disrupt travel more?.
Actually, I think ticket offices are pretty important tbh.....I think tube stations can already feel quite intimidating at times, with even fewer staff it can only be worse.0 -
Well the results are at the Doctors but I've got back-to-back meetings all day tomorrow. I've an appointment for Saturday morning but I might see if I can shuffle some stuff around and get down there tomorrow or Friday afternoon.
What a royal pain in the neck - shuffle away, Gen, you need to know. Or can't they just tell you over the phone?Anyone travelling from the West into London would be better served [STRIKE]getting off at Reading and walking[/STRIKE] staying in bed .............
Fixed that one for you!lostinrates wrote: »Yeah, we saw that.
He can get a taxi from reading. Expect PN's posh alertometre to go ding ding ding.
Taxi is going to be the issue in London any way isn't it? Is there a strike?
Fortunately, they've called it off. So once you get into town, you'll be OK....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I feel like my Dad - don't just try, Gen, do it! After all, never mind about you, all the NP are on tenderhooks, so you have a duty, here.
<hugs>
I remember hearing a line once about how do you recognise a Californian Condor?
The answer is, there are 4 ornithologists watching it and a tag around its foot....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You know how some words are just so delicious you roll them around your mouth and want to kiss them and hang on to them for ever?
I think tenderhooks is the opposite of one of those words I've decided this morning.0 -
What, you want to spit it out and kick it while it's helpless, on the ground?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Maybe not the kicking bit, but yes.....
Its a good word...it feels just what it is....but its too good the idea of stretched taught and pulling. Its making be desperate to be free of the word the more I think about it.0
