Slap bang in the middle of all that red colour on the environment agency maps.
A bit closer to the Thames in our village, people had the police knocking on the door to notify of eventual evacuation.
We're a bit higher up, so we should be ok.
And it's pouring down again.
So sorry to hear that Wheezy. I was thinking of that cluster of NP who are near the thames. Is it you, chewy and zag?
I hope that you are all ok. With a bit of luck they will sandbag closer to the river and you will be fine. Gen's right though, get stuff upstairs. Also, if you have airbricks, you can buy some special covers to go over them so that the water doesn't come into your house. If you can't get those in time, get yourself a roll of waterproof tape and cover them up early. That will give a few additional extra inches of buffer hopefully. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? No.
Working from home today to keep an eye on things.
Good luck with the test. It will be fine.
Thanks pal.
Just remember, most of the bad stuff that happens to people in floods happens to those that go into the water voluntarily, normally to fish out some tawdry belonging (clothes, electronics, family member) that is insured anyway.
Get the irreplaceables out of the way and make a thermos of tea just in case would be my advice. I'm guessing that a thermos of tea works in the UK like a bottle of whisky and a pocketful of Krugerrands in most disasters abroad: it'll bribe you past road blocks etc.0 -
They gave me a convertible. Possibly so I can row easily.
That said, it's big snow. Not settling in Birmingham, but back over the county border and everything is white!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Wheezy, further to my earlier post, there's a company that does some floodproofing measures. We had a flood earlier (not my house thankfully) from a burst water main... looked into the measures.

You don't necessarily need to buy these things, so much as to ask what you can fashion into something similar. For example, instead of the bog bladder you can use a sandbag.
Hopefully you won't need any of these, just wanted to give you some ideas in case. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yes, chewie and zag are further down stream, but I'm not sure if they're in low-lying areas near the Thames. Hope they stay dry!

I don't pretend to know much about flooding, but when we had floods here, the FB told us to cover the air bricks. In our case the water came up to just below the air bricks. I've also heard about putting stuff down the toilet. There's other info on places like the EA website, but it was the airbrick covers that I was looking for as that was what I was advised to do.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
