I've had to deal with one burglary. It's an utter PITA, but you get over it. Generally, burglars only come in when you are out, and the fewer valuables you have the less likely they are to do that. You live such an austere existence, PN, that you're unlikely to be of interest to burglars.
There are two sorts though - those that know what they're after ... and idiots who just try anywhere.

I am super-security conscious. I even lock my back door if I am in the garden and pop inside to the loo just inside the back door!

I used to work away all week, I had voiles at the windows, can't see if curtains are open/closed, I had lights on/off on switches, I had a radio on/off on a timer. I HATE it when I arrive home and some numpty's left leaflets sticking out of the letterbox .... and yellow pages dump the book by your front door.

Second house identified has got tenants in it until July. A very high proportion of them round here seem to be tenanted... it's like the world and his dog are offloading BTLs. Annoying - but they should at least put that in the s0ddin' details online!!!

I think that might work to your advantage. Landlords trying to offload tenanted properties like buyers who aren't in a chain and who are able to be flexible about timing. A property with tenants who have been given notice should go for less money than an equivalent property being sold by owner-occupiers, so this may be a chance for you to get something you can afford. Just don't exchange contracts until the house is actually empty!!
So...I hold a child for a bout two minutes in a supermarket and end up with chocolate on my pale cashmere sloppy jumper.

Going for broke, I'm going to have a coffee before washing it, Might as well slobber down my self too. I did however eat a soft boiled egg with no accident.

Pale cashmere jumpers are not things that should be worn in the same room as a child.

I dislike the idea of pulling a sickie.

Checked my diary, did an hour of phone calls and have taken a day of holiday at short notice. Not always possible but today it was , and feels miles better to me than lying.

Well done. Glad you were able to have a rest *and* a clear conscience. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Its mother was en crise, I had to help really. I'm just glad it was chocolate, on reflection. I'll wash it tomorrow, I have a few things of a similar nature, but this will be this jumpers first wash I think. :o. I am reckless, I chuck cashmere in the washing machine. As it gets old I wear it for the horses. DH shrunk my pale pink cashmere jumper so it sits around my waist not my hips, so that's a horse jumper now.

They'd see it as having 6-7 months to find a buyer - and as it gets closer to the time when it's empty they'll draw in more potential buyers, so no need to drop the price now.

For me, I'd like to be in and settled by Easter, so I can relax and enjoy the summer..... not sit and wait and continue to pay rent and be inspected for another 6-7 months, never quite sure if it'll go ahead... and not feeling free to buy household things or relax and enjoy the summer/explore the new area and its attractions.

I'd not look now until late May, if I'm still looking. House was a compromise in any event, it didn't have a sunny back garden, as well as another shortlist of "not ideal" attributes.

Same for me but then perhaps if I was in the top 1% like the InRates and SCs I would be more motivated to think about work in between leaving in the evening and getting back in in the morning. However I think I may still get the better deal.

Edit: Illumistreets likes neither IE6 (not that unexpected) nor google chrome on my phone so it will have to wait till I get home tonight.

I always check and clear my emails whilst on holiday on the basis that if you don't the first day back is always hell on earth. In my last role the director of my division used to email me in the small hours of the morning and expect a reply there and then whether I was on holiday. Thankfully those days are mostly gone now.

I wouldn't wear a pale cashmere jumper in the same room as me. I just know I'd chuck tea or something over it.

That sounds like a cardinal sin.

What, shrinking it, or wearing it to do horses in? Either is ok. It was quite old and getting a bit out of shape really. He was trying to help.

Cash, ere is for warmth, I don't really go anywhere much, so might as well be warm at home.
  • Shrinking it! That's a cardinal domestic sin (in my book).
