W Abbey?
I've never felt the need to go back, did 5 years.
Yes, Wycombe Abbey School for Gels.
When were you there?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Dh's family home in London, for example was in a very smart street.....with a small la block just off it where it was highly apparent expectations of quality of life of some residents were vastly different from the rest of the road.
Actually, I know you are right. There are lots of roads in London like that - there's one I know of that runs from near Lewisham Station up a very steep hill to Blackheath, and over to join the A2.
Houses costing £2.5 million at the top end, and a sink estate at the bottom.
But the road we live on is pretty similar all the way along, to the naked eye....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I want to keep my gas at £20-30/month really ... £30-40 if it gets exceptionally cold.
Gas is only for my heating and washing up water.
It takes a long time to heat up the house. I suppose that is the downside of detached houses - no neighbour noises but cold outside walls.
You must have hot water to shower/ bath, is that gas heated?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Today, the house of one of my neighbours across the street was burgled. I heard the burglar alarm, too. Usually, when that happens, I go and explore, but today I was too busy, so I ignored it.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

You reckon you've served your time, repaid your debt to society, etc?
I haven't had anything to do with my old school, either. Nasty place, run by a nasty headmaster (1), although many of the teachers were very good.
(1) Dead now, though, and I've heard that the place has improved. Even so, not one of my generation of pupils (that I still know) has sent our children there. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Not include: any with a footpath up the side; any on the edge of rough land, woodland or playing fields; any adjacent to communal parking/garages. That rules out 90% of houses I might be interested in.
I've had to deal with one burglary. It's an utter PITA, but you get over it. Generally, burglars only come in when you are out, and the fewer valuables you have the less likely they are to do that. You live such an austere existence, PN, that you're unlikely to be of interest to burglars. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
We had our burglars in August, and while we were in and fast asleep, they didn't disturb us. Just nicked my stuff. And caused a lot of hassle. But no danger....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
