On reflection, I do think there is something to this. Leave home in darkness. Get home, it's dark. Seeing little/no sunlight. It can get one down a bit if you allow it to.

I was talking with a friend last night about the lack of snow. We're now wondering whether we will actually get any...

I made fish pie last night. First time ever. Had never poached fish before. Whilst nice, & pretty healthy, it was a little bland. Next time I'll look to use smoked fish, but still need to consider how to give it a little oomph flavour wise.

    Jamie Oliver. FAntastic recipe!

The chilli isn't necessary if you don't want it.
I put in a nice glug of white wine as I like a bit of sauce ;)

If I say that bereaved children can make you want to do the same thing, will you all think I'm a terrible mother?

Will you think me terrible when I sometimes think that with autistic children?

I sometimes get a blind spot when they are being frighteningly autistic and not doing things that a 'normal' person wouldn't think twice about. For example, middle son is a talented drummer but he just won't 'put himself out there' to get in a band. He wants to be in a band, desperately wants to be in a band but won't ask or advertise that he is available because he would have to be with people he doesn't know.

And then he moans about not being in a blooming band....arrrggghhhh!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I think time of year makes things feel worse. We've had no real winter, just this eternal 'wet dank dark' and so season feels weird and sort of unending. Its not that healthy.

Think you're right there, LiR! OH and I are worrying that we haven't really had a decent frost even, so suspect our garlic won't split. :( Which would be a shame, as it's the only thing that we manage to grow relatively reliably. Plus pests and diseases won't get killed off if we don't have a decent cold snap. Hate the damp and dankness, somehow it feels much colder than when the temp drops beneath freezing.

Might have to get some fish pie ingredients in when I do next fish order. Used to love prawns in to give it a bit more excitement, but think I may have developed an allergy to them, so can't risk it. Bit annoying as one of my fave foods. Think it's very difficult to get to see allergist under NHS as there's such a shortage, so all can do is avoid prawns. Lost shellfish over 10 years ago.

Just been watching Stolt Guillemot, a chemical oil tanker, sailing up the river. Looks decidedly rough on the water - can't usually see white horses on the river from the house. Yet it isn't particularly windy here - not much motion of the trees.

Try adding a few drops of Tabasco, but not too many!

I was going to suggest a dash of curry powder :rotfl:

A plate of prepped fruit made my DH has always been a huge treat for me. It makes me feel tremendously loved.

I love, love, love a beautiful plate of fruit to nibble on. Is anything in the world really better? Its beautiful, its healthy, it shows love and care in its preparation.

However, if one is feeling low and the message received is ' you're a bloater and I'm going off you' it would be a totally different thing.

Perhaps the key is to make it feel like the act of love and care it is intended to be rather than a 'you're a bloater' warning? Easier said than done though, I'm sure.

Have to admit, I'm not much of a fish pie person. DH and RP both like it. When I can get it il put some sorrel in it. I also try other mashes on top. Mash cauilflower and chickpea together went down well with them. I prefer the fish to be simple, bit of something white, bit of something smoked.......

Thoughts with everyone undergoing frustrating times. Hope things get steadily less frustrating.

Just to reassure you, you don't need company for frustration. No, I'm not talking about that michaels ;)

Saturday night has turned into clothes washing night (it's all rock'n'roll lifestyles round here). Got the washing out of the machine and it was covered in bits of paper. I'm sure I checked all of the pockets, and it doesn't even look like tissue (it's a bit too thick). And most of my clothes are dark colours.

But the most annoying part is I don't even have anyone else to blame it on!

I'm not much of a fish pie person either, but every now and again I'll have some (usually if it's too cheap to resist). I like a little but of mustard and/ or a fair amount of brown sauce. I am very sophisticated
