Re sleep. I arrived back in the UK yesterday, overnight flight. BA has a new thing on its audio soundtrack. It's like a relaxation soundtrack that talks to you and hypnotises you to sleep. I used it and it worked a treat - and I'm someone who never sleeps on planes in economy (I can in club but that's with a bed). I must have had 5-6 hours all together, not bad on a seven and a half hour flight.

I was thinking of looking for something similar for home. As a rule I sleep well, but I do sometimes get a bit of jetlag.

    I use apps for this.

I used to use CDs, and even....tapes :)

Mas is right, rising time is considered vital in this sort of thing. Its not for nothing night workers and those with difficult sleep patterns enforced by work are considered to have impacts on longevity.

If she had she'd have got an early night at least.

Superbowl 22, January 1988 was the first one that I decided to watch in a Bar in Covent Garden.........first quarter was OK, Denver led 10-0, then first play of the 2nd quarter Williams to Sanders....TD, and quickly followed by 3 more

    ...........and that was that.

What do you do at 2am in Covent Garden on a freezing Monday morning ??

We had breakfast in the Fox&Anchor in Smithfield Market.

Didn't do that again, went back to watching it at home.

IIRC, there's quite a gap between 2am and the Fox and Anchor opening or at least there was in the early C21st.

I could have done with a new "None of the above" choices though.

Yes - with most of them, I wanted one of those.

Pulled into house this morning and walked in by the newly painted wall.

'Woah' I thought. ' its.....a little offensive'. Still algae growth will soon soften it, and I'm putting planters there with hops, nasturtiums and marigolds in them this summer, so it will break it up somewhat over summer.

1st appointment tomorrow/today is at 9.00am. That means I need to leave the house at 7.30 and it's now 4.01am. Having said that I did sleep earlier today, can usually manage well with out too much sleep and tomorrows appointments don't include making any life changing situations for other people (or for me) so I don't feel too apprehensive about my lack of sleep. I may in an hour or two though...

What sort of appointments do you do? Or would that out you for who you are IRL?

Yes. The diet is basically at least 1 proper cooked meal a day. Minimum of 2 portions of veg in there, more normally 3 for her and about 5 for me (I pile my plate with veggies). It's the crap she eats at the rest of the time that's the problem.

For example, I bought a multipack of Cadbury Mini Eggs yesterday. Today, 6 boxes are missing @ 200kCals a box.

Oh well. I drink over my 21 units a week most weeks so I'm hardly perfect. The bit that bothers me is the complete absence of any apparent desire to even attempt to sort things out. When I smoked I tried giving up every month I reckon, sometimes multiple times in a week. I had some pretty serious vices when I was a lot younger and sorted those out too

Oh Gen. People with no desire to sort things out are very frustrating, but... you know that depression stops people having any desire for anything, don't you? She doesn't have the brain chemicals for desiring things ATM.

Hugs and thoughts and prayers for the whole Generali family.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Walking took up about 1 hour, then we hung about the market, and were in having a pint of Guinness at 5 :T

Yes I do know that. It's still bloody annoying.

One of the things about depression is that it makes you want to grab hold of the depressive and shout, "Will just just pull yourself together !!!!!!!!!". Of course that's completely hopeless and achieves nothing at all but the overwhelming desire is still there.

If I say that bereaved children can make you want to do the same thing, will you all think I'm a terrible mother?

Of course these days, a few taps on the screen of the iBerry and you'd have a dozen late nite drinkeries lined up.

Even back then there was a late night place in the City. It sold horrible food, dreadful stuff but you could get a beer to wash it down. City something I think it was called, possibly in Clerkenwell.
