We looked at a new build flat today. Supposedly for parent, but she has changed her mind about living round here.
Decent size place, good location...but the price  you could buy a 5 bedroom detached house for similar money.
One interesting thing. It was very near a main road and the flat had an air purifying system. Don't know whether that is a plus or a minus that the developer feels they need one.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Bought all sorts of bits and bobs. There was very little mist but when I take photos with my low-res phone camera everybody looks like Mr Happy stood in thick fog. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I appear to be the only Belfast one here.
I came out as Belfast too.+1 (almost)
There is no Jewish ancestry in my family. I am not a scientist, but my DH is.
Outer Herts - definitely.
Mushrooms - too vile to mention, and I'm not keen on prawns either.
I am not a scientist either, but DH is too. I also hate mustrooms, have no Jewish ancestry, and don't like prawns (more to the point, they don't like me).
Could there be some kind of strange online correlation between us?Hooray! We finally have an Irish NP! ( we have Welsh, English, Scottish, Georgian and Belgian but I don't recall any from over the water. :beer:Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I have extensive RL Northern Ireland ancestry, of the rabid clergymen and Orange order types. My Granny's father (who was a dead loss as a paternal type, and pushed off, not deigning to support his daughters) was from a family of the Rev this and that, and they all signed the Belfast Declaration and belonged to Orange Orders.
So I can see OH's orthodox rabbi ancestors, and raise him (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
That's good, but my inner skeptic says that when she gets out of hospital it's going right back up into the stratosphere again. Hope I'm wrong, though.
You're almost certainly right.
What I hadn't realized until yesterday was that she'd delayed hospitalization for 2 weeks! It looks like there is some damage to her heart as a result.
Both her and FiL's attitude seems to be that this is stuff that is just happening to them, that they are passengers in life. The knee problems, diabetes and heart disease are all related to the fact that they eat too much sugar, salt and fat. Mrs Generali does exactly the same thing. This is her life in 20-30 years.0 -

I think I should have probably done more stuff today, but somehow nothing seemed to happen... and it's already 2pm, so nothing's likely to happy for the rest of the day either.
I have days like that. Many of them.lostinrates wrote: »All the snowdrops were here when we arrived, in an area of the garden we had decided was to be a 'white' garden. Our amazement when snowdrops came up in it ( there were very few garden things here ) was significant. It was like the house was agreeing. There is also a whit wisteria already here, but sadly will probably have to go, but we'll replace, to apologise to the house.
If you need to lose them for building etc work, likely to happen before they flower next year, you could always dig up clumps when they are still green but after flowering, and put them elsewhere in the ground or pots.
I had such a good evening yesterday. It was the last night of the panto. I'd seen it around Christmas but had heard about the last night traditions so couldn't resist ...
Basically, the crew play lots of practical jokes on the cast (who don't know what's coming, of course). All mischievous rather than malicious, and not affecting the children cast members. The panto has the same actors in it and has done for years; it's a real local panto rather than one where you get the latest Emmerdale or Neighbours star in it.
So, for example, we had the backstage crew coming on during dances and participating, props not quite going to the cast's plan (at one point the lasses with big Chinese umbrellas had them replaced with cocktail umbrellas, that they had to do the whole dance routine using ; on another occasion the baddie had a sword fight with Aladdin and was given a balloon sword to do it with - he managed superbly and also made a sausage dog out of it later in the scene during his song about being lonely :rotfl: ), scenery curtains going up unexpectedly when a cast member was going from one side of the stage to the other behind them. And so on...
And there was audience participation too. Everyone had a sheet on their chair when you went into the auditorium ... which had responses we had to shout out at given times, to throw the cast slightly off guard.
So much fun. :T0
