Last year, when undergoing treatment for her cancer, my mother said chemotherapy was very like pregnancy. Feeling sick and tired, similar lists of foods to avoid, not going near cat litter, etc. She said it again this Christmas when I turned green when meat was around (-:

A few years ago a friend was having chemo for bowel cancer and I popped round each day to take her dogs for a walk, (Ten dogs ). She kept saying at first that she felt like such a fraud and she felt fine. And came with me. And I said nothing.

Then she said she felt a bit like she had a mild flu and I told her to stay at home but she said, really....I don't understand, I still feel like a fraud, its not that bad. And I said nothing....

    Then.....about some weeks in.....

She just didn't appear any more, I'd let myself in, get the leads, take the dogs out take the dogs for a walk and bring them back. I down my think she felt like a fraud any more:(

Luckily it was worth feeling awful for. She had radiotherapy too but is hale and hearty.
  • Similarly for my mother. It was pretty rotten when she had the chemo (and as you say, the effects got worse each time) but worth it, she's now clear of it altogether. And back to herself, in more ways than just physical. She's got her mojo back, as Austin Powers would put it. I think for a while before she was diagnosed, she was cross and impatient with herself - she didn't feel well, and was tired and lowered, but couldn't think why and wanted to pull herself together.

Some of those are brilliant, thanks dryhat. I'd forego the toilet over the shaft, too scary. The standout under the desk is silly, but most of the others are inspired.

Have you seen how the entrance into the wine cellar works?

Do you think there's a button inside to open it? And if the kids are intent on locking someone in, which button takes priority?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

DH really really wanted one of these.

But actually we live fairly near Octavian vaults, so the real posh alert would be to rent some space there :rotfl:

Why did you deny him his little bit of bling?

No, not if we could afford it :D

We'd actually both like a full cellar to the extension more, but the architect nodded with a straight face and then told us to win the lottery first with everything else going on here.

said they hadn't wanted to because big dog was watching them.
    LOL .... hilarious :)
My accountant is really beautiful, . Beautiful, charming and clever and rather well off. Not terribly funny though. I suppose having it all is rare.

I've never found out how much accountants charge, but I know they couldn't make enough savings to save me more than they cost, so I've never used one.

Aren't you supposed to leave it to settle? Every time you pulled it out it'd [a] risk an accident jiggle it all again.

I want to turn our understairs bit into a concealed cat litter bin cupboard. The end bit which is too short to get in too. We have panelling there, and I want to put it on a hinge so it can be opened so the tray can be pulled out for cleaning then shoved back for containing it. Then cut a little mouse hole shape into it like jerry the mouse would have in Tom and jerry cartoons :D
I want a hinged bottom part if practical, affordable, reasonable.
