Here I'd still have to do trays but would be super hygienic about it. I cannot wait to get the trays somewhere else and contained tbh. I've never smelled our trays before this house but here :o
If you can get plastic bags big enough, if you slide the tray inside the bag, then fill it .... you can then remove the clean/untouched tray while carefully turning the plastic bag inside out - capturing all the gubbins without going near it.

Quite. Plus the craze decades ago for knocking down a wall and joining front and back reception rooms into one big open-plan area. Craze is just about the right word. These people's heads must have been emptier than a hermit's address book.
My perfect house would have that, but with sliding doors so it's open or not.

I saw a makeover programme on the telly ripping out a woman's doors between the rooms - she was about 80 and came in part-way through and said "My (dead) husband put those up, I want to keep them, without that the room's too cold". They'd not thought about one person in a house heating it all and trying to get the big space warm at all.

Accountant gives us a big letter in a bout two weeks about what we COULD have offset were we better little tax avoiders and that would make her seem like excellent value. :rot
    I've never done jiggery pokery - I just do ins/outs ... and that's it.

Not even any tax to pay this time as turnover wasn't enough to reach the tax threshold.

    See that's the point,

At the end of the day, we want to be able to sleep at night. There is some jittery pokery we will do. E,g. There are legitimate business uses that I am prepared to claim.
( bloody hell, less than two months till the clinic here).

And that's fair. I'm not prepared to say, claim my clothes for mucking out in, because its more faff than its worth.

There is a definitely change it the air though, and my heart is growing colder . I'll probably soon try and offset even my socks as cold weather work wear. :rotfl:

I'm an accountant, so pretty busy right now finalising tax returns from the clients who always leave it till after Christmas - but at least I have now filed my own return!
Quite often an accountant can be worthwhile for one visit to show you how to keep your records and to help you with what you can and can't claim.
I have had a few clients who pushed the boundaries. They are now ex-clients.
And, in response to lir's view on her accountant earlier, I can certainly be charming, clever and funny (if you want a second opinion I can find you one of those too) but definitely not beautiful.
I've never really wanted to be beautiful, not being remotely girly, although I would prefer not to have to wear a bag over my head when I go out.

    His,

Can I just say in my defence, I had accountant out for a meeting here last year, and said 'I want to get this done in autumn' and she said....no way will I look at this before January.

I'd rather have in in the post at the end of my business financial year which is......um......September? :ocean not remember ATM. But she won't send till last week in jan. its not be guv! The riding it to the edge deeply upsets me infact!

She's probably working on the principle that the later you submit your tax return (before the deadline) the less time the Revenue have to enquire into it. The latest generally is one year from the last date of submission (I think) so if you submit just before the deadline they have a year to look into it, and they are snowed under with returns so less chance you'll be chosen. If you submit it 6 months early then they have 18 months to look at it and may have more time/fewer returns around to investigate.
Have to say that has never been proved, and also has never bothered me; also people who have tax to pay generally, not unreasonably, want to know in advance how much they are going to have to find - unless they happen to have plenty lying around in their current accounts!!

Escape to the country, bbc1 this afternoon (just ending), was a London couple with £900k, looking for something old/farmy in Wiltshire ..... some people might have been half interested in seeing that.

Mystery house was a huge modernised house, forgetting the farming bit as they weren't really up to it and were spouting idllic dreams...... and really just wanted to have a big house to impress their mates and socialise.

Ah, back online for the first time since Saturday evening, when we had a sudden 10 minute gust that completely boogered up the overhead power line.

    Second time this winter.

They're going to replace the entire line... won't put it underground because it costs too much (£1000) even though it must have cost them that much this year to fix it when the wind blows it down.

If your year end is September, the tax return (and payment) now due is based on your accounts for October 2011 to September 2012, not the latest ones.
