I do love her to pieces. But maybe not as much as stripes. :rotfl:

Amidst much giggling, she suggests that if you don't like the idea of stripes, perhaps you would consider flaky gold with lilac spots. :D

I have put in a bid on a recycled rag rug on ebay for the utility room. I'll let you know if I get it.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Hmm.......are my purple skirtings in the sitting room not enough? I'm also about to paint the windows in our bedroom purple! (Our bedroom is a very pale lilac......dd will be cross...its a misty lilac;))

She says if the cushion cover is temporary, perhaps you could consider a purple one for when it's permanent - to go with gold paint on the woodwork. Oh, and she'd love to come and see the purple windows some time.

I must go and put some washing in. She, meanwhile, is scoffing cucumbers instead of cleaning out the hamster.

    Any advice?
Tell all. I've seen people tracked down on Heirhunters who had no idea there'd been a second family. I've also seen loads of programmes where adopted kids try to find their parents - and the parents find the kids. And everybody's super-happy ....

It's not your secret to keep. People LOVE to find out this stuff. If I found out my dad had got a girl pregnant when I was young and I had another unknown sister/brother out there I'd be super keen to find out all about her and meet her.

I have emailed back and given him some info about the relative (his father?) all of which is in the public domain, and which he probably already knows.

I have waffled on about my knowledge being scant due to the disparity in age (true) and asked how he came upon the info and who his mother was/where he was brought up. I haven't mentioned anything else.

If he responds I will run his answers past my other relative who may remember something and will, at that point ask their advice, and maybe even ask if they woud tell the relative concerned as they are closer in age and familiarity to them than I am.

After viewing the house (which was really grubby/tatty and had had two dogs living there ... and the windows really needed replacing) .... I took a drive around, parking up and pressing the RM app for "all houses within 1/4 mile in my budget"..... didn't get much joy.

She is almost always welcome here, the j family have open invitation.

But an 'almost' because when hamsters are clean, And preferably when bedrooms at least have a path through them ;) so that poor Lydia isn't going back to a house where nagging much commence!

Panic over, he emailed back and had mixed up two brothers!

His father was the brother who never married.....so, I have been able to fill in some of the blanks for him re my memories of his father ( I vaguely remember some whispered family talk about it when I was small) and I know this relative had a bit of a reputation for being a bit of a player....
