For some reason totally unrelated to anything it occurs to me that its just about the right time to eat chiacchiere in Venice. Pronounced sort of like kiACkaray. (Emphasis on capitals, not lirism) They look like simple bits of pasty with icing sugar, easy to turn your nose up at. Not my thing. But what a foolish first assumption that would be. Perfect to nibble on when you get lost exploring in the mist.

Has any one done an inventory for insurance purposes?

I've been meaning to do one for ages and started last week. Presumably I just need to list what's in the room and what we'd be bothered about.

I don't really have values for much and not sure above what figure that would become an issue anyway. I thought if I simply took a photo of some of the higher value items its the best record? E.g. The desk in the sitting room was dh's mother's, no idea if she bought as an antique or inherited and only loose idea of value ( much lower than a few years ago!) in good condition, which ours isn't. But I've itemised it my maker and plan to take a picture.

My wedding ring I can snap and I know I don't have the receipt, but I can print out a page from makers website.

But.....hat about things like little collections of things where individually a thing is worth say, £2o or £90 but as a collection they are worth 5/600 ? Worth itemising?

    Sofas yes, cushions no?

I am using these tickets for a soon-to-be had excursion in the general Mediterranean area using our former national air carrier.

Food would be complimentary on economy, IIRC. What extras do you get for business I have to wonder? One of those nibbling fish foot spa things? I have two feet and so has the missus.

I can happily do without panda-and -platypus panninis for the duration.

Also how long before the flight departure do people turn up for check-in? Used to be two hours but is that still so, for close but not-inside the uK destinations?

Online check in? Or do you have hold luggage?

Worth allowing two hours for a bad security day even if no hold luggage.

I like airports, I'd happily spend a whole day in a big one, DH often gets there by the skin of his teeth and has to run on plane in his socks. :D

Funny you should mention this, Cicchetti is such an institution in certain places that they have tours of the bars which serve them..,

I like arriving in them but for leaving I'm fussy. City airport's lovely. Heathrow's hectic - though I know people who worked there and who were utterly totally brilliant when DD was ill and relatives were flying south to visit and help out.

That's never going to be forgotten.

But for calmness, Gatwick is the airport for us now, and for the trip to come. Just thinking, is there a special waiting area for business?

DH does online checkin and aims for an hour before.

You may need to pay but there will be a VIP lounge with free drinks/food. There is definitely one for your return journey;) Worth it imo, gets you a calm space to spend the last hours of your break, we always do it.
