I'd encourage you to have a listen to Fred Deakins Flashman EP.
    Well worth it. Quite jazzy/Gilles-esque.
happy to send you a link if you'd like?

Free music! That'd allow you to spend summat on that big 'ouse a yours!:D

Free... and music? Sounds good to me!

Need to get my head around spending some money on the house. Its all I can do not to chuck every spare penny (and there aren't that many) at the mortgage.
Definitely not liking this debt thingy.

Edit: and thank you in advance. Don't want to sound ungrateful ;)

I'm really sorry to hear about your lovely birds, lir. At least the two are together.

Having read the conversation last week about the 5:2 diet, I had a little think about it and realised that it's probably a good idea for me as it's probably quite close to the way I used to eat and I also hate depriving myself. I've never counted calories in my life, however and have just worked out that it's not an intuitive thing.

This morning I had two slices of wholemeal bread, toasted. I was going to go for Nutella, but decided that perhaps I'd have one of the two days today and Flora (Buttery) would suffice. I had the same at lunch. I've just checked and the Flora contains more calories than Nutella, despite the fact that nutella is more than half sugar. I know there are good and bad calories, but I could have had half each and a bigger smile this morning!

It was on 7:30-8 and 8-8:30.

I know it's only a soap, but it was incredibly sad.

Watching 2nd half now, but I'd filled the gap with benefits street... so now missed the last half of that!

Once I get a house - top of the "look into" list might be a system of recording telly

I'm looking forward to getting broadband - then at least I'll be able to watch via the catch up things.
2 weeks to go (fingers crossed) :)

Wise words, doozer - thanks for the reminder. All holding up ok (so far, touches wood), but I will get my backside in gear about sorting out round 1 of priorities in the next couple of months. Promise.

Any of you watching the new Interior Design programme on BBC2?

Just caught the second half on catch-up, having seen the first half before going out.

All 3 rooms were basically painted grey. Why? Is it really such a popular / trendy colour?

I think probably the right one went through.

Although the end results looked OK, I did think a lot of it was very amateur and if I was paying someone to do this for me, I'd expect a higher standard than they got.

Hello everyone. Just to join in if you don't mind. I have found that the older I get, the less I am interested in earning a lot of money. Like others, I would say that I am comfortable. Just bought a new to me car, I would never buy out of the showroom due to instant depreciation. The point being that I could afford to do so without any great thought or consideration. I go on holiday regularly, eat out at least once a month and can afford to buy luxuries if and when I choose.

The point is that on many occasions, I choose not to. Instead, I choose to try to clear my mortgage, so that I don't have any debt. This of course is a dream that I aspire to, not sure it will become reality in the time period I have set myself.

I want to get to the point where I can work in a job where I don't carry the level of responsibility I currently do. I look forward to the ideal dream of earning enough to allow me to do what I want, when I want. Yes, I can do that now, but the compromise is the stress that comes automatically with the long hours and responsibility. But in time, I will be able to achieve the same thing on a lower income, due to less debt.

All of us compromise somewhere to achieve what we want. Sometimes the difficulty is that we compromise without knowing what we truely want out of life. And that's what I think makes us sad. Years of struggle, for what?
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Owed at the end of -
    02/19 - £78,400. 04/19 - £85,000. 05/19 - £83,300. 06/19 - £78,900.
    07/19 - £77,500. 08/19 - £76,000.

    I think that's where I struggle too.

I find that food is so cheap frankly a scandal. In days past when property were expensive and food were more, you might have had your house paid for with savings or or expected to rent, but your earnings went on something tangible.

Its amazing that many work so hard for electric money they never see to pay for debt they never see the sum of........

    Its so.........odd.
