I'd better go back to being rude to everyone whilst I recover from the shock 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

I have only flown first class once, when I got upgraded from business class as it was full.
I've flown business class a lot in the past when my employer was paying, but never do these days now that I have to pay, unless it's air miles upgrades.....:)“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

            On books for the bibliophiles....
End of last year I almost died in my love with the book deathless my Catherine m valente. It was beautifully written. DH and friend made me hold off reading other stuff, and so next purchase was a delayed origins.....
Labyrinth, which seems to be one of the most popular is ......a bit smug. Arty for its own sake rather than purely beautiful, and the second one is frankly bored me a little. I'm not gorging on the finanal two in origin, a first for me, maybe the wait was the wrong move? (Interesting, as I type I think about the posts on hurrying lol) lol)
Palimpest was cheap as an audio cd front he states. I am, er, not meant to be reading lying down late into the night but struggling with the concept of audio books. For a start they are too slow and put to much other interpretation in, but .....I woulD play them tonight,,....if we still had a CD player upstairs!0

 This was full daylight.
For those that know my place they were front garden birds, and found in the front garden, in the back garden, and the first yard from the back garden.
I heard a noise and ran out, but heard too late. . 0 . 0

Sorry to hear about the chickens, lir. How horrid.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Sometimes it's oddly enough cheaper or about the same price as normal class. If you're booking a peak train ticket, and the cheapest standards have sold out, the cheapest first class and the cheapest standard available can be the same price. If it's within £10 or so, and a long way, I book first class and enjoy it!
I've travelled 1st class twice - both times because it was the cheapest option. I'm not rich enough for it to have changed me so unless it is cheaper it is still cattle class for me 0 0

 Air miles?
You wouldn't catch me using a dodgy virtual currency like air miles.0

Ooh -I can answer 2 posts at once:
The Lydia scale of affluence and retirement.
Please don't quote though as will come back and edit...
My family probably falls between the bottom 2 categories - my parents were always very careful with money.
...until last year when he semi-retired...
I think my dad is actually better off financially since retiring - started his company pension as soon as it was on offer (and didn't have anything in Equitable Life etc), now finished paying mortgage etc etc. Concerned that his hobby is quite sedentary.
On a cheerier note - they now do pretty much what they like money wise. They've never had a hand up from anyone - it has all been from bl00dy hard work + being super-sensible. My brother and I, whilst not being (too) spoilt, have definitely been given a head start.0

Indeed. How are things going? Hope that nasty virus is on its way out.lostinrates wrote: »We took her back to her sister, who was siting alone in a nesting box, silent. On seeing each other, they made delighted chuckles, unbothered by the destruction of the rest, and snuggled down together.
Their world at least is ok. . I feel better now. Still gutted about all the others, but not having one accounted for is gutting. . I feel better now. Still gutted about all the others, but not having one accounted for is gutting.
Awww. Lovely word picture of chicken reunion, and congratulations to Dog dog. Sad for the others, though. Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres. 0 0
