I am a great believer in big built in cupboards.... say, ceiling to floor, wall to wall, sliding doors, 18£+ deep.DS and I have some tendencies towards hoarding, and DD is the real deal - full on pathological hoarding in a 10-year-old.
Everything in one place, doors closed. Done.
I dislike individual furniture pieces as you can't do so much with those.
I've got built in cupboards here, for the first time in my life - and one of the reasons I picked this place was to try them out/see how it goes.
Although it's essential to get the right mix of rails/cubby holes/shelves etc - which would be a skill in itself.0 -
When in my own house, with a garden, I like to hang clothes outside on the line. Since renting, without line access I've just used my airer, which gets put into the shower room - that's a room meant for damp things and when it's not cold I can leave the window open in there (if I am at home).0

I'm sorry. I saw that, then didn't connect with your other post. Do they have to destroy the parquet when lifting it?
I've seen the maintenance people at work lifting it and replacing it.I make my students do the livingto100 lifespan calculator. At the end there's an inconspicuous feedback button which if you press it reveals a treasure trove of ways of adding extra years to your projected lifespan based on your lifestyle.
I got 97. Its recommendations are silly, though. It thinks I should start taking aspirin daily. I'm 44, have never had high blood pressure, and have no history of heart disease among the non-smoking members of my family. Daily aspirin would be over-medicating, surely?PasturesNew wrote: »I'm overweight, got down to 8st3lb once ... now I don't worry and tend to wobble between 9st7 and 10st0. 10st0 means size 12 jeans feel a bit snug round the waistband; 9st7 means they come off without undoing them. I've no scales, probably get access to scales 2-3x a year.
The jeans test is how I measure my weight too. It tells me that I've got a bigger waist than I've ever had without being pregnant.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I was wittering on about Blade Runner a few days back. Does this news item seem strangely in tune with their vision of the future. Giant video screens, pollution gone mad, and a nation looking for off-world colonies? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

I've contemporaries in the police force who've now retired, and have taken up second careers for basically beer money.
Last year I got a letter saying my retirement (pension) age has gone up by a year. Pretty sure that's not the last of those I'll get.
I'm worried that reaching my retirement is going to be like trying take a close-up photo of the horizon.:(
I know that feeling too
