After complaints I now tumble dry socks on the low setting only. On the standard setting the elastic tightens or the material shrinks, to the extent they have a fight to get them on their feet.

Okaaaaay! It all falls into place!

If it wasn't a forever freezer but I was planning to buy a forever freezer, I'd buy one on ebay for cheap and then sell it on ebay when I had enough. Hopefully at a profit, but probably at the same price. No loss.

someone was selling a perfectly good looking freezer for £25 on local facebook selling pages this morning.
One of the problems I have is with privacy, strangers and an inability to be useful.

To buy a freezer they'd expect me to collect ... and I'd have to speak to strangers. To sell a freezer would involve strangers coming into my space and they might want help moving it out .... and/or I might feel guilt if they were manhandling it and dropped it off the steps or something.

There's a lot going on when you buy/sell big items that are outside of my skillset and resources.

I want a regular delivery guy to turn up with a freezer, from a shop, who will bring it in on his sackbarrow and leave. No niceties, no conversation ..... just job done.

Thoughts and best wishes heading in your direction, Spirit. Hope it works itself out asap.

Sounds like positive news, Gen. Hope it continues to go in the right direction.

Its so difficult when you know there is only a limited amount you can do for someone else. Just by being there, waiting for when you are needed is a big help though.

Nikkster's written it so much better than I could have done.

Thoughts with Spirit and Gen and families.

Yes, it is. Amazed you remember! Long time trying to clear old home, too much Life Happening stuff.

You did a lovely job. I didn't see you finish on that thread as I left the boards for a while, so it's lovely to see the finished product. I have never seen so many pics of a renovation!

I lived in a different house back then, but I now live in the mirror of your house. Almost identical. Ours is 30s but it gets mistaken for 50s by most people.

I used to work bythe Oval in the big old offices at the top of Brixton Road. The parking wardens used to be based in our building. They can't have driven more than a few yards!

Srsly...they used to do this near the junction of Brixton road and Handforth Road, so less than 100 yards then. Who knows where they were from though, there seemed to be about 10,000,000 traffic wardens in Lambeth.
I sent £500 to your old school today. Accepted place for DS :)

Good stuff! I hear that the head is retiring - that's a shame, he was the head of sport when I was there, a very good teacher and apparently a great headmaster by all accounts (although the bloke he replaced was an absolute disaster).

I may be going back there for an old boys dinner soon, will be interesting to see how it has changed, there has been a massive building programme since I was there.

How much ?!!!! Second hand:eek: Even I'm giving you a posh alert for that. It makes even the amethyst bath look cheap.
It's in the price bracket of something like a holiday home budget for me.... which I'll never be able to afford.

And all to heat up some pies.

    Yes, posh alert :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Spirit, life has been an onslaught no doubt. To me it sounds as if there is quite.....wisdom in knowing how oneself is and reacts and ability to pace maybe.

    Best wishes.

I know, I know. I cannot have a posh alert because its NOT MINE :D
Posh alerts also come from [a] knowing something exists wanting it [c] actively considering that, given some circumstances/events, it could become a reality without a close relative having to die for you to get it.

My socks just go on the bottom rung of my airer, with my knickers.

Knickers and socks always go on the bottom rungs and the inner/bottom rungs, perchance somebody should visit and I don't want any visitor (stranger or friend) to be trying to have a conversation with me while my knickers/socks are 3' from their face :)
