Ooh - where do I sign up for one of those?
No tumble drier here, condensing or otherwise.
Currently, most things just get draped on radiators around the house. Once the heating is off I'll just use an airer (probably in the lean to/ conservatory/ orangery).0 -

They were godawful and if you wanted to dry anything to the point you could wear it you had to do each item individually and for about 4 times longer than a vented one. Plus I used to accidentally tip half a litre of water on the floor when I emptied it. I think they must be much more expensive to run compared to a vented one. The only reason to get one is if you physically cannot have a vented one.
We have a vent to outside which always worked well with old TD. This TD had the pipe in different place and created a kink which collected water...so we had to resort to extending the pipe and hanging it out of a window.
Will definitely go for another venting one.0 -

Thoughts and best wishes heading in your direction, Spirit. Hope it works itself out asap.
Sounds like positive news, Gen. Hope it continues to go in the right direction.
Its so difficult when you know there is only a limited amount you can do for someone else. Just by being there, waiting for when you are needed is a big help though.0 -

When I lived in Oval the traffic wardens used to turn up in their van at about 8am and park it in the bus lane on the main road, then 5 of them would pile out of it and patrol all the side streets. Created traffic chaos. Happened at least twice a week.0 -
Sorry to hear that Spirit, hopefully the GP will be sympathetic and offer some support.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Message for Michael's... I asked my friend and some others about musical notation app. He said that he wasn't aware of one for voice. You can buy software, but v expensive. He uses g string or alternatives to it to identify note, but I suspect you are after something more sophisticated than that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Back to floors. Can you get a parquet floor repaired? How do you match the wood? Does it look repaired?
We had ours sanded and re-varnished about 5 years ago. It all looks OK apart from the hallway, which is looking scuffed and dirty again.
Assuming we can get matching wood, is it a good idea to have wood floor in a toilet? I know it will be sealed initially, but eventually the varnish wears in places....
One more question if I may, floors then decorate or decorate then floors? I know if you carpet, the carpet goes in last, but if you are doing solid floors I don't know.
I've never renovated a floor. Most of our houses have had either rotten floorboards or already been hack to death for central heating pipes. Ad we've never stayed anywhere long enough after putting in a new one. There are specialists out there. It should be fine to put a wood floor in a loo if it has been properly treated, not just lacquered. I think parquet needs regular polishing, the hall might just need that, not a full sanding again? I really have little clue.
If we lay a new floor, we also lay new skirting which means at least some degree of decorating needs doing after the floor is down. If it were me I'd paint the walls, lay floor, attach skirting then touch up and paint skirting but I don't paint much so the boy decorates everything at the end.
If the floor isn't of a porous finish, it's always pretty easy to clean. I have extensive experience of cleaning paint from all types of surface. Slate tiles are a **** to clean bits of paint from, every kind of wood floor has been fine.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I used to work bythe Oval in the big old offices at the top of Brixton Road. The parking wardens used to be based in our building. They can't have driven more than a few yards!
I sent £500 to your old school today. Accepted place for DSEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It really doesn't surprise me!
I posted it on Twitter when moaning at the paper and the Cllr responsible for Environmental Services, so will do it here.
Put in Devoils Lane to Charringtons House (which is where I was parked, and where the council is based) and you'll see how ridiculous this was!
I was in one of the spaces next to South Anglia Housing's office, and there's another one to the right of me.💙💛 💔0
