That's adorable
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks pastures.
. It is cute too, in its own right.
Crew kern3 (pronounced sort of like crooken by locals) is a funny place. One of my sofas came from there.0 -

I've been remiss in replying to welcomes!
Thank You PN, I'll be popping in when I can. Probably more often when the weather is carp!
Tend to read more than write on a couple of threads - severely limited in energy, plus have "stuff" needs dealing with fairly urgently - clear old home (we need to sell ASAP), and keep newish allotment sufficiently up to scratch that we don't get chucked off it for being too weedy!
And it's getting to seed planting time now too! 0 -

I strongly dislike bedrooms with no windows. That combined with being open plan downstairs mean food smells are going to end up in the bedroom.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Windows are going to be hard in ours too. The good view side is not going to have any windows because its road frontage side.
. Aesthetically from the outside its the right decision, but its a shame for the inside of the property
any view will be of a wall and asbestos roof.
. Shame when you think what is out the otherside really. 0 -
My house is a mess and it is going to get worse.

We are having most of the downstairs radiators and pipe work replaced. It looks like a main pipe runs under the hall floor, which means it is going to have to be dug up
Already we have 3 rooms with channeling in the walls.
Having half decided we should have the downstairs loo done soon, it now makes sense to redo it at the same time, so we can then have flooring that runs through from the hall.
SO we did think radiators then decorating, but where does flooring fit in? Before or after decorating?
At the moment we have a solid wood floor like this
We are thinking of keeping that in the living rooms (thankfully the floor there is untouched by the work. The hall floor was already showing signs of being in need of replacement - the top groove of the tongue and groove almost sanded away! So we thought of a tiled hallway. Opinions please. Will it look odd where wood meets tiles? The kitchen floor is already tiled, in tiles I am not that keen on, so will it look odd where tile meets tile?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. But, look further and you see: odd layout, not much outside space, on a main road, bit too near to the bus stop/phone box .... and what are the chances of that village hall being sold off and developed so you're overlooked and surrounded.Doozergirl wrote: »That's adorable
Bedroom description doesn't match the floorplan either.0 -

Can you go the whole hog and have tiles you like going right through into the kitchen? I think fewer floor surfaces always looks some how bigger.
Where we have two similar floors meeting (upstairs new bathroom to new landing/old wood floor) we hunted to get a new flooring that was as similar a tone to the old dark floor as possible to get a sort of visual continuity when the door is opened. Its not a perfect match, but neither does the eye 'jar'. The new floor is smooth, new, sealed solid bamboo, the old floor is deliciously tortured wood. But they are, as near as possible, the same colour.
Btw, love your floor.0 -
An idea to chuck in your design box .... I've seen old conversions in the past where they've lifted up the roof by 1' or so and put a complete glass layer all the way round, then dropped the roof back down. Gives light, but not obviously windows.lostinrates wrote: »Windows are going to be hard in ours too. The good view side is not going to have any windows because its road frontage side.
