RP does crosswords and sudoku. I'm not convinced either are a replacement for interactive things or learning new skills. RP also likes watching lectures on YouTube, which is fab, but doesn't seem to grasp
All the meaning of the, any more. I've notice in some of our meetings about house for example, some of the points agreed RP seems to think are something other than what has actually been agreed.

Rp has recently been helping someone from another country apply to British universities (something frankly RP is not qualified to assist in IMO) and while its been tedious listening to the tales of I do think it was of benefit. RP was a very active community figure of some regard for many years and I think this mo
Ve has been a very poor one. However, I am inclined to believe that might have been struggling to keep up with mental processes. RP is extremely old for age. :(. :(. Its very depressing.

You know when you see to, say...seventy year olds, next to each other and one could pass for fifty something and one eighty something? RP is the latter IMO.

I'm rather concerned you think I sound saintly over it. It means I'm not giving fair representation at all. Frankly I think I'm being fairly vile at times.
  • LIR, anyone would be vile sometimes! All that leaving cupboards open, leaving gas burners on, would drive anyone up the wall.

My darling Mama said something which really helped when Isaac was a baby, and was screaming 24 hours a day because of as-yet-undiagnosed reflux. It was absolutely insanely impossible to deal with. She said that sometimes being a good mother meant managing not to chuck the baby out of the nearest window.

She's right; and sounds like dealing with RP is sometimes similar.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Electric...thank god our cooker is electric. :D

(And its not just those doors, its every f*{>]+ door or window he touches is left 'incorrectly). Part of the problem is I am difficult and the house is difficult and the animals are difficult.

E.g. The bathroom (still in the old one) has not ventilation, so the window MUST be opened, but if its open it must be fully opened because otherwise the cats try and go in and out and lock themselves in or out or slam the window on their tails. (Because closing the bathroom door is impossible, so the window is open and the house freezes...personally I open window AND close door...but....)

But RP cannot remember so if window is opened its onto first latch and the door open then their is a 'cat- astrophy'.

The doors in the rooms with a heater in are always left open so its a bit like p1ssing in the wind, which is especially infuriating because the heaters is mainly on for RP, who couldn't remember to turn them off, hence part of our deciding to run the kitchen one on low all the time rather than on and off each day . I found the day RP came back from two weeks away the temp heater in RP's bedroom had been on max the whole time away over Christmas (which in the end was ten days).

I know its tight, but.......for goodness sake, this is MSE, if anyone should understand my wailing about money wasted its here! Its one thing to be heating a room RO is in, very happy to do that, but an empty one??????

Edit...oh, and when RP went away had to come back when I called and pointed out suitcase was still at bottom of the stairs while RP was half way to London. :(.

I sometimes think I've done well by getting through the day having repressed the urge to throttle every beggar I meet :(
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

LIR, the 'a' condition. Perhaps because it is so commonplace, I think a lot of the NPs have experience of it. My family too. So as others have said, I'm glad you feel able to post here. You aren't being snippy. It is definitely something we can relate to. I wish you all the best in finding someone to take it seriously on a professional basis.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I think you should keep a diary..... it's easy to forget the small stuff and you might need your diary of evidence at some future point, to help you make decisions about what modifications need to be made, or to have discussions with relevant agencies etc.

Having it in a diary - and instances counted - can mean you can summarise events in one sentence, rather than being asked in conversation how often things occur and you blindly racking your brain for some immediate answers, that are hard to communicate with impact.

What PN said. A diary is essential. Dementia is difficult for GPs to identify properly in the early stages because they only know what they can find out by listening to the patient sitting in the consulting room. And the patient doesn't know how bad it is, and might not say so even if they did. Mostly, the patient makes up anything they've forgotten, often without being aware that they are doing so. Since the GP doesn't know what the real situation is, they have no way of knowing that the patient is off the wall. A diary compiled by someone living in close proximity is the only way the GP can get the proper picture.

Example: My granny had Alzheimers. She lived alone, and forgot to eat. We organised meals on wheels, but she forgot to eat them unless somebody sat with her and reminded her after each mouthful to take the next one until the food was finished. My mum organised a daily vist from a home help to do some housework and sit with her to make her eat her meal on wheels, and then applied for an attendance allowance to help pay for it. An inspector visited to make sure the claim was legit.

Inspector: Good morning Mrs S. I've just come to ask you a few questions about your home help.
Granny: You've got the wrong person. I don't have a home help. I've never had a home help.
Inspector: Oh, I see. I'm so sorry to have bothered you. Good bye. <Goes off to initiate accusation of fraud against Mum>

Mum replied to the fraud accusation explaining everything, and requesting that they consult with the GP, who knew all about it. They didn't, but sent another inspector round to see Granny.

2nd Inspector: Good morning Mrs S. I'm following up on the visit you had from an inspector on <date>.
Granny: You've got the wrong person. I've never had a visit from an inspector.
    2nd Inspector: <Light begins to dawn.>

Oh Jelly. You need to be braver and meet some women. You are such a lovely bloke, and I'm sure you'd make someone a delightful partner. It's such a waste of a decent guy if you stay single.

I was turned down too. I have meds to which some people are allergic.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Hmm. Maybe its the meds after all then. I dunno, don't suppose it matters.

    Ok, diary it is.

Thank you everyone. You've been great.

I've also suggested to RP today that it might be worth checking medication is at right level for type two and that perhaps another approach is made because 'its probably something like a bit b supplement' :o. Because it could well be.

Ok, I really have got that off my chest. Every ones necks are safe. No throttling desire at all, :D
