Though with weetabix don't they need at least a little softening with milk so the spoon can go through them?vivatifosi wrote: »Hi Michael's, I work with a musician who has an armoury of apps, so will ask him later if he is around.I think....0 -
Just had the most bizarre weather event. There was a blinding flash and a split second later the most strange thunder crack. It didn't sound like rumbling thunder, but different - too odd to try to explain. Next, the heavens opened and it tipped it down, including hail - but then it sounded like the hail was hitting my loft hatch (in the hallway), so I was wondering if I'd lost my roof ..... but I can't view that part of the roof. I got dressed .... and by then hail was hammering against the front door, but I couldn't hear the sounds of what sounded like hail stones on the inside of my loft hatch any more.
As I can't see, can't check etc..... I'll just have to assume everything's all OK.
Had to sort out the fence stick this morning - and the telly's warning it's all going to be bad/worse here today again, with 70mph winds.
Edit: Once it'd calmed down, had a little look around inside and realised my loft hatch had been dislodged in the rumble. So, using an umbrella, to stop it falling down on me, I managed to jiggle it shut again. No idea if the roof was hit .... but the thunder sound was very weird, wouldn't be surprised if the neighbour knocked later to say they could see there was an issue (only they can see it)/0 -
Good Morning, back in the digital world again.
Hello Rachael. Late 40s, nowhere near Herts though I have an office down there, a haulage contractor ( which makes me devil spawn to half of my fellow road users as far as I can tell:cool:), five dogs and atheist. Like mushrooms, but not strongly. My barrister (who is admittedly not at all junior) is amazing. He's brilliantly intelligent, phenomenally good at reading people, staggeringly quick to identify and articulate the most important point of a matter, and comprehensively knowledgeable about his field. I'm sure he's paid shedloads, and I think he's worth every penny of it. (Fortunately it is LNE's insurance company who is paying for him, not me.)
I've met a couple of barristers and I have always been amazed at there ability to read documents and pull out the salient points, and then sum up any of my waffle into two succinct sentences.
The funeral for Mr Bugs was last Friday. It was a lovely service, humanist, held by a celebrant who managed to sum up Mr Bugs very well. Everyone said how much they had enjoyed the service. Then we all decamped back to the pub; Mr Bugs had left money behind for his funeral, so it went towards a good buffet and a free bar, I'm sure he would have approved.
I hope everyone had a good festive season. Sorry there isn't much chance of me catching up on the last two weeks as today will be spent trying to catch up on the mountain of invoicing from before Christmas.0 -

Welcome sun devil Rachael. I love that spelling of sun devil too.
Brazil. Hmmm.
DH has yet more family there ( between us we can take the world, evil laugh)
If I were a food I might choose to be pao de queijo, ( which are so easy to whip up and are an easy adult supper with red wine if health is not the consideration).
And just after we bought DH was offered a job in São Paulo. We so would have done it some how. I probably would have stayed here cause of animals, but.....what an opportunity.
One of my best friends at school ( no longer in touch) was also from São Paulo.
Tenuous, all links. Bar the cheese breads. Every one should eat them. They are a bit like mochi. Which is quite sensual texture.0 -
Lovely to see you again bugslet - our thoughts and wishes have been with you this past week+
It doesn't get better, just different, from now on.0 -

I'm having a terrible memory hole. I have a friend in nearby city who is South American but cannot think of the life of me now from where. And one of dh's best friends in law might be Brazilian. Or not. Brazilian or Argentinian. God, so stupid0

Hi Rachael.
I went to Uni with a woman from Brazil, in fact we shared a house for a few months. She now lives in the US.
I live in Aus, as has already been said, in fact in Sydney. Gentile, mycophile with 2 Generalissimos (children). Welcome.
Another hot day down here. They've had over 13,000 dry lightning strikes in QLD today! There'll be a bunch of bush fires up there by the weekend.0 -

The flour is the hard thing to get hold of. DH gets it in London. One can whisk up a batch leave it in a jug in the fridge and ( profligately) bake just two at a time if you want.
I found this recipe reliable. I've tried few over the years, this is the simplest. I've used it several times. Over Christmas DH made a batch for himself and I made mini pao de queijo near the beginning of the break on a day I also made blinis, both for canap!s. I made the mini ones in little petit four moulds and they came out brilliant shapes (I didn't expect that, I just thought they'd be smaller and puffy and know one would notice the bottom) but the tops reflected the bottoms. So they will be a recurring canap! here now.

Good to have you back, bugslet. Glad Mr Bugs' service went so well.
PN says it doesn't get better - well, she's right that for some people, it doesn't. But for other people it does. So take one day at a time and see what happens.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
