It doesn't seem you can link two macputers to the same photo bucket account.. I think I've lost my pics.

What is in red meat and not much else? Iron, vitamin A?? My knowledge is rusty.
In the george foreman grill. We have had some successes, including sausages, burgers, schnitzel (turkey) and tonight steak.
Only downside is that someone has put away the drip tray and we can't find it.
Vitamin A is low in plant foods but I think they add it to spreads. It's lack is a contributor to the high measles death rates in vegan areas of the world.
There's a website by the vegan society which seems fairly honest about at least some of what's needed, but I'm sure there's more that's not covered.

I know that this is vegan and we're really discussing a possibly low-meat diet but time spent on reconnaisssance is never wasted.
Edit: and viva has actual experience of this, or a similar diet. I've only taught a nutrition module. I'd listen to viva. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I just eat whatever I can be bothered to sling onto a plate .... I know nothing of nutrition. Tonight was oven chips and instant curry sauce + an individual cheesecake. Then a handful of roasted monkey nuts. Then an after eight. Then 2 weetabix/sugar/milk. Earlier today a banana and half a baguette with cheese/beans.
And, actually, looking at that lot ... I haven't used a plate today. I've used two bowls and a plastic storage box.0 -
Expensive brake work needed on car, straight after Xmas. Ouch!:(
I thought you only just got the car? Makes me feel slightly better about the fortune we have spent (continue to spend) on our car this year.Over Christmas I have been involved in negotiations with DS about giving up meat. We have now reached an agreement. I have accepted that he is giving up eating meat from mammals, and he has consented to carry on eating meat from chicken (and possibly other birds), and is happy to take a supplement if I decide that one is indicated. (Question - should I, and if so which kind?)
I have been somewhat surprised at the extent to which other people feel they have the right to tell him that he must eat red meat or else. I would certainly never tell somebody else's teenager something like that. If I was concerned about their eating habits I might have a quiet word with the parents if I knew them very well, but otherwise I wouldn't interfere.
Interesting... when it comes to the personal relationship problems of my friends, I am generally quite a long way towards the "love them enough to say something" end of the spectrum compared with most people I know, but on this question I am coming out much more non-interfering than some people I didn't expect it from.
Tonight he is hungry.I am doing sausages and eggs and stuff for DD and me, so asked DS what he would like instead of the meat element. He wants lots of pasta, tuna mayo, fried egg, and cucumber, and happily told me he'd thought through whether he'd got all the right food groups before saying what he'd like..
Once our DKs decide they are big enough to have their own dietary foibles they will also need to be big enough to get it themselves rather than expecting DW/me to produce two different meals at a time.PasturesNew wrote: »I've looked on RM every day; hardly anything comes up. Just over a year. Not much wrong with it till now. Seriously thinking about getting an early MOT this year to desynchronise the MOT from the expensive Xmas period. Any NPs ever done/considered such a thing?
As regards restricted diets, there's a limit to what you can accomodate in a household.
I'm sympathetic to lir's idea of feeding all kids vegan food at school as basic nourishment then suplemented with other food at home. But I just know somebody gormless wouldn't add any extras and some kids would suffer. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Yes, did this a few years ago, to separate the mot from the tax, which was in line with the insurance. MOT'd early and SORNED for a month. Now, I just have a bad 3 month run!Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

The only reason vegan food's the one being discussed is that it's the most restricted diet (OK not an obvious plus) and it would be possible to exclude many common allergies /additives (meaning salt/sugar, I'm not worried about food colourings and much else) and religious dietary exclusions which are mostly meat based. Parents could add different meats for breakfast/evening meals.
Not too alien; sort of a beans-on-wholemeal-toast sort of an idea, but a bit more tasty and adventurous I'd hope. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I'd hate to have missed it all because somebody interfered because they thought they knew best.
Everybody's parents cook "the same stuff all the time" - school dinners is more varied.... and, for many, better.
Edit: also just remembered pineapple upside down pudding ... and tapioca .... and a white pouring sauce over a big ginger sponge ....0
