  • Wouldn't your life be easier and calmer if you bought a small worktop freezer?

Do you not like eating, then? Or do you like eating, but someone else does the hot and messy bits?

I feel that I'm being mildly chastised, and I'm going to be called an MCP soon. I do cook, but I have a tiny repertoire. I'm not even slightly interested in the process of cooking, just in the end results.

DW does most of the cooking. I help a bit with preparation. And I do other things around the house. Last night, one of the light switches broke. So, this morning, I bought a replacement and fitted it. (That was 30 minutes to buy it, and 5 minutes to fit it. One of these days, I'm going to regret doing that sort of job without switching off the electricity!)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You're not being chastised at all - we all have different talents and interests. I usually do more of the cooking, except at the moment, when I object to anyone doing much cooking because it smells so awful. I wash clothes, OH irons them, and baths Isaac, and I read to him. It's all swings and roundabouts, innit?

The toaster wirework touches the bread on both sides without cheese being added - the cheese would be stuck to the wirework once added.

Also, won't the cheese run the risk of running off the edge of the toast, directly onto the red hot toaster heating wires? Thus causing smell, smoke, potentially a fire - and a ruined toaster as the cheese would be irretrievable and would smoke/smell every time you then usejd the toaster?

Honestly, it was fine. Sliced bread, a thin layer of cheese, laid carefully to prevent overspill (which is what I do anyway). The toaster is able to take crumpets etc so that was okay. Gravity pulls the baske down a bit so there's more gap on the cheese side. It's just removing old crumbs and remembering to stop it before it shoots.

The cheese didn't brown but it did bubble.

I can tell it's not going to catch on though...

We could move in together, rewire the house next door to the fire station and make cheese on toast in the toaster!

Just in from work. Did anyone else get the weird hail white-out today? Not just hail, but God emptying boxes of what looked like styrofoam pellets. Zero visibility. Street went from clear to covered in white in about 30 seconds. I've seen some strange weather (mostly in Florida and Aus) but this was very odd for the UK.

I have thanked posts, the thanks button has disappeared, but the thanks have not appeared. Am I being chastised by the MSE pixies for over-thanking?

No. I did have 2-3 periods where the rain was whipped into a bit of a white that looked like fast-passing clouds.... and a small smidgeon of hail. But not quite like you saw, although I've limited visibility from this window, so it might have appeared like that if I'd looked down the road.

It's WILD out there right now. Wild wind and booming bangs.

OH saw all that in Luton. It didn't travel this far south.
