Good news! Got results this pm. Benign - my favourite b word. May go party tonight after all.

Fantastic news, viva - hope you have a lovely, joyous night out to celebrate.

Dad's gone to bed extra early - he went up at 9.30pm. He wants to get up at silly o'clock tomorrow, walk the dogs, and leave by 7.30pm to be in Chambers early. So he gets to start the New Year rested, un-hungover and smug. Each to his own!

Isaac's not in bed yet. Mama's been reading him Saddlebottom, and they're finishing it off now as we're going home tomorrow. Isaac's plans for NYE don't include an extra early bedtime, but are not yet ambitious enough to stretch to midnight.

First I heard the rain, teeming down .... then that turned into hail, hammering against the front door/window..... I popped outside, driveway's flooded, then there was thunder and lightning.

I pity the fool that thought being outside now/tonight would be a good idea...

I've just let the dogs out for a late night wee, and the cat in, and been extremely thankful that the humans here have an indoor loo.

    Happy New Year!

There was a giant rumble of thunder just now, which makes me and my mother agree with you, PN. She's having a glass of champagne, I'm having a glass of cloudy lemonade, and we're sitting in front of the living room stove feeling warm, comfortable and happy.

Happy New Year to all NPs past and present. Thoughts going out to those who are not with us this evening and who have gone through tough times this past month/year.

Viva, that is what we call a result :j

Following usual NYE tradition, but different people this year. We went to a matinee in town (London). So got out of town just as hoards were arriving, there seemed to be a LOT of people hanging round piccadilly circus area today. I'd forgotten how many tatty souvenir shops there are! Relieved to be out of central London. Then we had a take away with friends, saw the new year in and came home. A hangover from the days when we would try to do something kid friendly by starting the evening early for the kids with a matinee.

Happy New Year to Nice friends everywhere.

Viva's news reminds me how much you matter to me.

I like the Susan Coolidge poem "Every day is a new beginning" and always think of it at new year. It reminds me that every day not just New Year's Day is a fresh start, has hope and promise.
