Strange goings on in the Legoff household tonight.
Can't get the TV to change channel. Change batteries in the remote. Nothing. Turn all other electrical appliances and wifi off in case they are interfering somehow. Nothing.
By a process of trial and error I have found that the remote works perfectly if I stand directly in front of the TV and hold the remote to either side of me. But if I sit down but hold the remote in the same spot, nothing. If I stand in front of the TV and OH sits on sofa behind me, the remote works. If I leave the room, it doesn't.
It's not my amazing presence either (I know you all thought it was) because it works the other way around with OH standing in front of the TV.
It is rather bizarre. I can only think that the signal is weakening somehow and standing there strengthens it because some of the signal that bounces off the TV hits me and bounces back at it. All a bit odd though. I will have to cover the wall behind the TV with tin foil or something.0 -
I have discovered a huge bruise on my wrist - about an inch and a half long by an inch wide. I have no recollection of bashing it. I am used to this happening with little bruises - I am the sort of person that isn't always concentrating on where I'm going - but can't remember having had a mystery bruise of this size before.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
That's way better than me, I've been relying on the sleep-deprived apes in my head typing wearing blindfolds and boxing gloves or else letting my terrier dance on the keyboard then cleaning my posts up with a spellchecker.
Speaking of cartoonists my neighbour (when I were a lad) used to draw a cartoon strip in a kids comic about people who live in your head and drive your decision-making. Befoe most NPs time I reckon.
The numbskulls?
Tinsel on trees doesn't do it for me. We use beads. no mess, & looks better imo. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Be very careful when unwrapping your chocolate santas.

Having never done this Christmas tree lark, I have to ask: Won't the lights melt the chocolate?
What can I say silver? It's the miracle of Christmas:DPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I bruise very easily, could you have knocked it in your sleep.
I've sometimes produced bruises that OH says I have to cover up or people will think he is violent.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Last minute thought was to have family outing to the theatre on boxing day. really angry to find that the theatre in question has a few seats left but wants £152 a seat for tickets that are normally £47. If they were touts or agencies creaming off the top I could understand, but still be outraged. But for the theatre themselves to overprice just makes me mad.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Better than putting tin foil on your head!
I listen to football on saturdays, & it's only available on am radio.
Our radio is rubbish. I have to stand holding the ariel all game to boost the signal so it is loud enough to listen to. So for nearly 2 hours, I'm stood in the kitchen with 1 arm in the air holding this piece of wire...
Annoyingly, across the last month, something else is interfering with the radio signal. I thought it was our pc, but it's broken, so clearly not that. So I spend 3-5pm saturdays cussing the neighbours in the absence of any evidence whatsoever. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
