Bought me and the BF one each (which reminds me - forgot to eat yesterday's so that's two tonight :D)

Never had one as a kid and have only had a handful as an adult.

I feel so deprived now *sobs* :D

  • Not sure where you are located, but Thorntons in Bury had loads on Monday, or what about Next, they have wooden ones in stock still and fill with chocolate, we have done this for ours this year and they love them.

I managed to get ours from Clinton's, asda had sold out on Friday! Ended up with thorntons ones for £6 each!!

When I say ours, I do mean me and DH, both 27 :)

Thorntons were 3 for £10 with the big white snowmen in, absolute bargain!!

I bought one for our granddaughter, weeks ago. I didn't bother getting one for our 15 yr old son as I thought he wouldn't want to bother this year on account of
    a) he hardly ever eats the chocs anyway, and
    b) he's 15!

You'd think that I had written him out of our will by the way he went on and on about it. I bought him a "Hello Kitty" calendar by way of revenge! :rotfl::rotfl:

Oh that is so funny, eldest has not got one and when it got to the first and saw youngest one, his shoulders flopped forward, sad look on his face, looking to the floor and sighs ' I haven't even got an advent calender' as if someone had ruined his life:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

He still has not got one:D

OH had to run around on Sat to get some as we had forgotten. I probably wouldn't have bothered, but he is an old softy lol. He usually has a calender for himself as well, but this year could only find two, luckily I had a free one from my approved food order a couple of weeks back and DS looked at me like I had two heads when I asked him if he wanted one lol. So the 3 girls are sorted. DS who is 15 simply said could he have either the "dosh" as he put it or a big bar of chocolate.

I do like the idea of the reuseable ones, with those you could put just that days treat out, avoiding the I'll "just sneak the next days chocolate out" thing that the younger ones seem to get. Thinking about it those ones you put the treat in could have a sweet/choccie and perhaps a little note from santa or an elf each day, or even a joke/challenge.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was in the post office yesterday hearing that cry

"PLEASEEEEEEE, tell me you have some advent calenders left". Poor boy nearly got Hello Kitty one, but shopkeeper managed to find a Transformers one out the back.

The PO is attached to a Nisa - so go have a scout round all your corner shops.

And get a pocket advent calender in the sales after Cmas. I have one to fill with bits. I also have a Playmobil one which comes out every year. Nothing like forgetting the advent calenders one year which make you get ready for the following Cmas!

I just realised that this thread was still going, hehehe!!
I popped into the PO and sure enough there were some left. Either Moshi Monsters or 1 direction.
Ii was so tempted to get the 1 direction ones, my 13 year old would go mad...but in the end i got the moshi monsters.
    Price tag said £1.99 each..scanned at 98p each :D

Kids were pleased as punch that they had one to open and could open 5 doors today!

my mum called about 30mins later and said she had found some and will send them down to us :D
