Think out of the box. Go to the 'Range'. They do a little wooden toy train that has numbered draw compartments. Put a chocolate or 2 in each box. Hey presto an interesting advent calendar that can be used year on year and will only cost you the price of some cheap choccies from here on in. Very MSE in the long run

Yep I second that the range has as whole load of advent things in they were really pretty. Waitrose had a few advent calendars left, the pound shop had plenty and wh Smith has some.
If all else fails you could always get an advent candle burn it off and hand out a few smarties :rotfl::rotfl: yeah I know if I had kids they would hate me!!!!0 -
Revise the rules, kids with double figured ages don't qualify for advent calendars???0

LOL, DC that made me laugh. i have kids and after this i think they hate me, hahaha!
i just asked my youngest son if anyone else in their class at school didnt have 1 this year, and he said just 1 other person.0 -
I bought one for our granddaughter, weeks ago. I didn't bother getting one for our 15 yr old son as I thought he wouldn't want to bother this year on account of
a) he hardly ever eats the chocs anyway, and
b) he's 15!
You'd think that I had written him out of our will by the way he went on and on about it. I bought him a "Hello Kitty" calendar by way of revenge! :rotfl::rotfl:"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Hehehe, excellent revenge barbiedoll

I was thining about trying to make one, but have NO idea where to start. i am not in the slightest bit crafty!
Don't you have a good newsagents nearby? I think your chocolate coin idea is a great one, better than an advent calendar!
