    When I was in Canterbury yesterday, I saw a few groups of language students, with their green t-shirts or yellow bags, and it reminded me of you. It must be a fantastic experience for the young people to spend time overseas. I hope their host families are as welcoming as you.

    I had to laugh at the Brian Rix farce/1970's sitcom shenanigans. Whatever, you do, DON'T invite the vicar round for tea, as there will almost certainly be some innuendo-laden misunderstanding!

    :wave:

    Thanks for the kind words Goldie, he popped back again today at lunchtime but I was fully clad and suitably welcoming (I think the fact we live very close to their college base is very convenient)! He's still feeling grotty so I've dosed him up and popped him off for an early night ... he couldn't face the disco!

    Ahh yes, the "more tea Vicar?" side of innuendo, love it

    It can't just be me who's hot and exhausted by the weather, working in the weather, working at all in fact, watching the mortgage numbers that still seem slightly too much on the big side to feel tickety boo about?

    ;) MFW actions:

    * NSD
    * Two client payments but will have to wait for cheques to clear.
    * £75 MOP

    SMASH day 51 / 100 = £ 2,358 / £ 3,000 ~ over half way through, bit of careful budgeting required!

    :(Grey clouds:

    * Had a great weekend with students but young fella is feeling under the weather today so he's in for an early night.

    * Mr. Hbbb. Work. All that jazz.

    * Sat in garden playing cards with students last evening, now have a total of 27 mozzie / random insect bites, despite Avon So Soft and three citronella candles. I blame the water butt, I think it should have a lid! Conversation with Mr. Hbbb to be had once he has broken up and is ever so slightly less grumpy. Timing is everything, as I know y'all know! :o

    :)Silver Lining:

    He has a good day off tomorrow to go to his daughter's graduation. I spoke to her on the phone tonight but unfortunately I won't be with them as his ex (her mum) is rightfully going and you can never get enough tickets for these things. Mr. Hbbb is driving his daughter up there though so he'll have some good moments with her and is as proud as punch of her achievements! :T

    :p Daily declutter:

    Lots of random carp off workroom table shredded and dumped. Counting as one so 239 / 365.
    Weekend attempts at decluttering resulted in epic fail due to heat / demands / life in general.

    :DSimple pleasures:

    Had my morning visit to the workroom from Gladys to remind me it was time for her elevenses again today! We still can't find where she's coming over ... reckon all we're doing is raising the bar and teaching her to fly higher to get over. Thank goodness she's coming over to find me rather than going to explore next door!

    Hope you're all OK. x

    PS:

    In the course of research for client today I accidentally found my dream retirement property ...

    Note the availability of superfast broadband and two pygmy goats. Easily pleased, me! :D

  • Morning Habibiboo, loving that Gladys comes to find you for elevenses :)

    I think I've missed whether the first students were paid for or whether you're still waiting? I think the lady said she would bring the cheque round but I've been a bit behind on diary catchups :(

    Love the house :)

    Hope the bites don't itch for long.

    Hot and exhausted here and need the ineffable school play in an overheated hall like a hole in the head.

    Ponyplops wants to move into that house.

    Loved the house and especially loved that the goats were included in the sale!!
    Have you tried eucalyptus oil for the mosquito and midges? Few drops in water sprayed over bedding (in a plant demister) and over skin? Mr Watty swears by it. FoggyFell Pony likes the Avon SkinSoSoft but it must be the woodland fresh fragrance to be effective. (OK, he is a pony, might be different from humans :))
    Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

    In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Is woodland fresh the green or the pink?

    Thanks for visiting y'all and for your kind concern. I'm still itchy and wearing a floaty dress as any kind of trousers make my legs too hot (and then itchy) but if I wear shorts I look like I have a horrible skin disease (I have a cankle where the lower leg ones have swollen) and I really don't want to put the students off their breakfast

    No, I haven't tried eucalyptus oil Watty ... I may pop to town on Thursday during lunch so will have a scan for some value version. To be honest I'd happily wade through sheep dip to get rid of the itching and my apparent attractiveness to the cheeky little bugs.
    FoggFell pony sounds like he must smell as well as look adorable.
    I'm trying to persuade Mr. Hbbb that he really wants a house with free goats!

    Mine's the pink one, it's upstairs and I CBA to run up and sniff it, will try to remember to check later. I don't think I smell particularly woodland fresh, if that helps (or not)! :o
    Hope you survived the play!

    Thanks Tilly ... yes, finally got paid for the first lot, a week after they left. Payday this Thursday hopefully ... they just sent a payment slip through but it had a total of £999,999.999 on it! I think someone may have messed up the money side again. Cakes are on me if they are apparently recompensing me to that degree!

    Hope everyone's good ... another warm one!

    ;) MFW actions:
    * NSD
    * Naff all else only quiet living

    SMASH day 52 / 100 = £ 2,358 / £ 3,000

    :( Grey Clouds:
    Nope, fairly clear skies kinda day.

    :) Silver Lining:
    Received urgent email from student co to say someone has had to cancel (hip replacement op date has come through) so I now have another Spanish boy and a Russian boy coming next Weds (my current boys leave on the Tuesday) so very fortuitous!

    :p Daily Declutter:
    Have made one of the students the gift of an old memory card from old camera as it turns out his hasn't been working and he has none of his photos! He's hopeful he can download some of the whole group and sight seeing ones from a friend but at least he can take a few of his own till the end of the trip!
    Total = 240 / 365

    :D Simple pleasures:
    * Store cupboard dinner - well salad leaves, herbs and garlic from garden, omelette from hens and tatties from fridge so frugal as anything and students said "the food here is very good!"
    * Eggy success: I know pride's a sin but I did allow myself a mini proud moment as my omelettes are usually a scrambled egg kinda version ~ not befitting students' dinners so I was a bit worried, especially as Mr. Hbbb tuts at my technique and takes over the pan, but today he's not here and I did very nicely thank you, they actually looked, you know, like omelettes!
    * Mr. Hbbb is having lovely time with his daughter ... he popped in after picking her up this morn so I could give her a hug and take a photo of them together, tis good and very de-stressing for him.

    Speaking of which ... happy last day of term tomorrow to teachers out there who haven't already [STRIKE]cracked up[/STRIKE] broken up for the term. x
