I think I winced a bit too ... in fact I think it's a good thing the students were out or they may have learned a little Anglo-Saxon language as my wincing was somewhat colourful
Thanks for asking Goldie, it's as itchy as hell as I had my boots on down the henhouse for a while, so it got a bit hot and hasn't stopped itching since. I'm now bare footed and kind of perched near the breeze of the open window to cool it down a bit!
Hope you're good, no funny turns? xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Happy Saturday ... turned out lovely in the end!MFW action:
* Small grocery spend (budgeted) but otherwise no spending.
* Bit of bank faffing to work another MOP into the week and tidy up that very odd SMASH total from yesterday, so £77 MOP means ...
SMASH day 42 / 100 = £ 2,060 / £ 3,000!Grey Cloud:
Car failed MOT (but not due till next week) so nowt paid today but have had to book it in for Thursday. I oversee all household spends, budgets and mortgage; car and related spends are Mr. Hbbb's so he's sorting it out to the tune of about £200 (estimate from garage).
Funny thing is we've never had a car which gets through MOT first time and because we kind of expect it to fail (not in an Eyore way, just an oh-well, plan for all eventualities kind of way) we get a weird effect where having to pay £200 to keep it on the road feels like we're getting off lightly (can't find a shrugging smilie to put in here).Silver lining:
Most of today's to do list achieved at zero cost to anyone!Daily declutter:
Fickle old breadmaker finally spluttered off this inanimate coil so has been dumped; several items from garage repurposed but CBA to list them all so will count total of two for today = 253 / 365.Simple pleasures:
* Cheeky hens seem to be feeling right at home now and much more confident with lairy pair on a daily basis. Happy time up the henhouse today.
* Relaxed day, even got some work done but with a wound-down approach.
* Two loads of washing dried on line, including lots of student laundry.Simply giving myself a headache ...
* I had an excellent idea of something lovely to do for my mum today, but it's dependent on having a whole chunk of free time (which being SE means having free time that I won't lose earnings by taking and I mean a whole chunk, like a month or a week each month for X months!). Bit stumped actually but want to do it for her / with her.
Hope everyone is tickety boo!

Funny old day:MFW actions - not a lot, just ticking over.
Min spend as met up with sisters and niece for coffee in M & S ... a treat for us all as we've all been so busy with families and work. Quite frugal as I used my free hot drinks vouchers so 2 "rounds" of drinks for 4 cost about £7.50 (shared twixt me and one sis) whilst other sis bought us a cheeky cake each
SMASH day 43 / 100 unchanged at £ 2,060 / £ 3,000Grey Clouds:
* Before bed last night I was convinced I could hear a mozzie in the room but Mr Hbbb had me convinced it was my tinnitus as he splatted one and said he couldn't hear any more even though I could.
Today I have large mozzie bite right on face, about cheekbone level, very big, very red and bally itchy, so I was obviously feasted on during the night. Must not scratch or will look even worse but ...! What is it about me that makes me fodder for these things? Mr Hbbb is never touched!
* Hanging clothes into wardrobe and caught my hand on the door, rough edge seems to have appeared from nowhere. So where my life line crease meet my wrist I now have a slice and wedge of pine we can't get out. Plasters and magnesium paste hopefully doing the trick.Silver lining:
Everyone enjoyed their dinner which I cooked mostly single handedly (literally in view of above) as everyone else around here suddenly had other pressing things to do. Except lovely student who offered to help but then found hammock up garden and had a siesta instead :rotfl:Daily Declutter:
Nowt out although have emptied drawer of all ill fitting bras. Will count out when I drop to textile point, so total remains at 235 / 365.Simple Pleasures
* seeing sisters and niece.
* getting some inspiration for tricky birthday presents coming up.
* first of our courgette crop used in roast veg medley as side dish for dinner.
* one student is so pleased with his food that he has started taking a photo of each meal and texting it to his mum! Nice to know he feels well provided for.
Hope everyone is OK, hugs if needed, counting down with teacher colleagues who still have time to serve this term ... another week closer x

Oh gosh, I hope your mozzie bite heals up quickly, they're nasty beasties!0

Ouchy and itchy! I'm like you - I'm the target they go for and they ignore anyone else. I find I have to scratch them till they bleed otherwise the red swelling keeps increasing. For me, drawing blood also draws the 'poison' out.
And ouchy for the splinter - hope it comes out soon.
And well done :T on the cooking single handedly. I think I'd like to be one of your students!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Thanks Becky I hope so too, it just looks so scabby and swollen and I just don't want a scar there (I still have scar on my ankle from a particularly nasty bite two years ago). Hope you're Ok!apple_muncher wrote: »Ouchy and itchy! I'm like you - I'm the target they go for and they ignore anyone else. Know what you mean A*M but am trying hard not to scratch as I have client meeting. Thursday. At the moment it just looks unfortunate, if I scratch it up it will look unprofessional too!
Has reached swelling peak I think, it started oozing at about midnight so I think I'll just have to stick a plaster on it today and draw it out a bit. I read somewhere that they are more attracted to females than men and within that certain females ... my youngest SD is the same as me, when they were all younger and we'd go on picnics or camping, she and I would get covered in bites whilst her sisters and dad would be fine!
And ouchy for the splinter - hope it comes out soon.
Ditto here, magnesium paste seems to be working, swelling is going down!
And well done :T on the cooking single handedly. I think I'd like to be one of your students!

Aw, ta A*M, little do they know that their feasts are pretty frugal but filling! Have a good dayStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Love that one of your students is taking photos of meals. That is very endearing.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
In this house, it's Mr Goldie who gets bitten by things.
Before we went on holiday he went out into the garden for a few moments and was bitten on the arm and while we were on holiday he got bitten on the hand.
Yet I never get bitten. It's strange how the mozzies target certain people.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
My theory is that everyone gets bitten, but some people have a bad reaction to the bites.
I've just come back from the Highlands & DH was bitten 3 times by cleggs (horseflies) on his leg. They each drew blood, but he has absolutely no marks or irritation. If it had been me I would probably have needed hospital treatment as I react very badly to horsefly bites!!
Hope the bite on your face settles down quickly. I have 2 on my forehead (one is extremely itchy!!) & one just below my eye. I used the Avon Skin So Soft dry oil stuff on any other exposed skin & that seems to have done the trick, but didn't want to use it on my face.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -

Yes, he likes his food bless him, I think perhaps his mum was worried we were going to starve him, so he's showing her that all's well.

Well that's put paid to my male / female theory then Goldie! Horrible getting them on holiday, just when you want to air your flesh a bit, you have to cover up again!pink_poppy wrote: »My theory is that everyone gets bitten, but some people have a bad reaction to the bites.

Oooh, cleggs are the worst of all P*P, it's amazing that your DH has no signs of irritation, I'd be the same as you I think! So sorry you are struggling with the face bites too, it's not a good look is it? 2 on forehead sounds grim
Funnily enough, my mum recommended the Avon stuff too, as a repellant rather than a remedy though. You're right it's a bit oily for faces, our look is bad enough without adding shiny highlights to it!
Hope yours settled soon. X
