We won't mention the weather rep for this weekend ;) and hope (as per) they have got it wrong.

Eww to the rat  - we get them too though :(and mice with having so many fields around, not a lot to be done though - virtually everyone along our little row of houses has dogs - hence no one dare put any killer down in case the rats/mice move it/die and the dogs decide to put their chops round it

Cake & wine on a Fri = happy days, enjoy!

    JanineH,

You were right with the heads-up about the forecast! Thankfully the chain saw wasn't needed, the whole thing was so battered Mr. Hbbb was able to just use an ordinary saw to cut it down before the storms set in. It has to be said though, in the squally weather of the rising storm and his garden trews Mr Hbbb cut quite the Mellors figure ... but unfortunately I was more Lady Chattalot and too busy on the phone to take advantage :rotfl:

 Glad your neighbourhood all acts responsibly with the rat poison ~ I strongly suspect our dead one was poisoned, far too intact to have died from anything else (sorry if that's TMI folks). Will be very watchful, thanks too for that tip.

... And yes, the Firday night good times did roll, I had my cake, ate it too and then beat him severely at crib! Good times indeed!

Hi Alchemilla, lovely to "meet" you, thanks for stopping by! Pull up a chair and I'll reveal all ...

Purple just won over the pink, easier on the eyes!

Former chalk of the English and special ed kind, freelance in web-writing and memoir ghosting! Not as well paid (yet :rotfl:) but significantly quieter ~ ooh and less smells and germs too (but I really miss year 10)!

    How about you?

What a day ... lovely here first thing, but the weirdest incoming storms which have now set in for the night!

;)Today's MFW actions: QCo surfing for pet insurance renewal, am determined to come out of it better off, will let you know when I've finished. My plan is to add difference into MOP each month (on a don't have it won't miss it basis)!

:(Today's grey clouds: Sorry, today we have a list ...
    1) RM scheisters (sp) with parcel costs. Took Fleabay parcel I thought I'd priced appropriately at £5 P&P (using RM leaflet to help me). Lady at PO wanted almost £13 for it  Brought it home again and have gone with H-named couriers for £6 instead, to be picked up Mon and sent apologetic email to buyer for slight delay!
    2) Mimosa tree is gone (see my note to JanineH) :(

:)Today's silver lining: Eldest HabibiBobbin has returned with all limbs intact from skiing holiday with his partner! Not seen him as he lives in London but text exchanges reveal that all's well (although he's possibly still drunk and can't come to the phone)

:pDaily Delcutter: 15 mins rampage through [STRIKE]man-cave[/STRIKE] garage, loads of stuff popped into recycling as a result! 21 / 365

:DToday's simple pleasures: Mr Hbbb is cooking h/m pizzas for tea (his daughter's here for the w/end and he likes to do this) so I've done a bit of work and am now sitting by roaring log fire with cheeky drinky and MSE surfing!

Hope you're all warm and dry, big hugs if you're not!

Ahh, a brave scientist ~ teenagers, flames and chemicals, I take my hat off to you ~ I'm too clumsy in myself to ever have considered Science as an option, let alone having the lightning reflexes needed to deal with the practicals (there's a very good reason why I was always more at home in special needs)!

Yes, there's something very special about year 10 that common sense can't account for, they just make you feel alive!

Elantan, lovely to see you, hope you had a great holiday!
Roof's no worse thankfully, should be a quick minimum spend fix ~ fingers crossed!

Hope everything's good with you ... will have to pop over to you for a catch up! x

Hope everyone's OK ... a dry day here for a change!

;)Today's MFW actions: NSD, despite putting lots of things in my Fleabay basket (D*Hams outlet), I survived my self-imposed cool-off period and deleted it all again! I was only on there because I'd got auctions finishing today and it appears to the national day of daft "it's in the listing but let's ask the seller anyway" questions! Honestly!

:(Today's grey cloud: none really, all good! Had to work most of today but it's great to have so much work at the mo, so I don't dare knock it!

:)Today's silver lining: Another zero spend dinner from cupboards and freezer: roast pork dinner for Mr. Hbbb and h/m Mediterranean quiche for me and DSD3 (we be the veggie ones)! Great way to use up lurking aubergine and onions!

:pDaily Declutter: persuaded Mr Hbbb to part with a few more "just in case" bobbins from garage [STRIKE]man-cave[/STRIKE] total 22 / 365

:DToday's simple pleasures: having a lie-in! Mr Hbbb got up to see to hens first thing, my rewards for thrashing him at cards t'other night! It's all good!

Hope you've all had a good weekend too!

  • Hello,

Personally I could do without year 10. It is the sevens that I like. Oh and I are also second time rounders and it does set you back a few years financially! But of course worth it. We too are working towards being secure in case we really can't face going to work any more or our employers can't bear to have us any more. We have been splashing out a bit recently but aim to get back in track next month. Very good luck with your plans, I have enjoyed your diary.

Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
