Well my trial of ebid isn't going to well, I've listed my most popular product that I sell loads of on ebay, noone else is selling it on ebid at all and I've had 3 views since I listed it on Sunday and I think they're my views!0

Hi,
I think you've answered your own question. If no one was previously selling your product before, how do people know it's there now? What have you done to market them? Listing a few products for a few days is very unlikely to get results.
I don't know what you're product is? here's one suggested strategy which may work for some people.
Carry on selling on ebay, but keep some items listed on ebid and let them auto repost every 3 days so they move to the front of their category regularly. (you can auto repost up to ten times, after thet your listings moved to the 'closed' area where you can select them all and get them to auto repost a further ten times!). Assuming you're using silver membership it's costing you nothing to list - so you can price cheaper on ebid. As you make sales on ebay, let your customers know you have similar items on ebid (at a lower cost). Any sales you make will be at much lower fees than ebay.
later in the week i'll post a few tips to help new sellers get established, meanwhile if you think of EBAY as Tesco, EBId is the corner shop. There are less buyers, but if you're willing to do a bit of self promotion, corner shops generate loyal returning customers :-)There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0 -
Don't know if it was discussed already but i'm from Portugal and i can't sign up with any of the sites, tried to change to ebid spain but never appears my country, anyone could help?0

Hello
I joined ebid 2 years ago, Gold Membership, no longer available, listed a few items earlier this year, sold 1, must say it was a very easy process though, been too busy to list anything but I have a collection of books taking up valuable space so will list them in the near future and see how it goes.
I have used the forum quite frequently and I will say that the members are extremely helpful and very friendly, with good advice.
(unlike the 'cult' of rude, nasty & hostile posters on the 'other' sites forum)
The redesign of the site has improved navigation, it is not a 'clone' of ebay but I believe it has the potential to offer a serious alternative if people are willing to make the effort to stick with it.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit0 -

Hi, I have just had a look on the eBid forums as I seem to recall reading something similar and found this forum thread: http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=94376 It seems that at the moment you will not be able to register but hopefully this might change in the future.0 -
Well.....
I dont know how the rest of you are finding EBID but I am NOT impressed !
I have listed 12 items - I have sold NOTHING ZERO ZILCH in about THREE weeks !
I have hardly had ANY viewings.
Its just too quiet for me - in the same time period I have had about a dozen items on Ebay and all but four of them have sold.
Waste of time IMHO.0 -

I've said this already but it's worth repeating as it's a common misconception that ebid should be compared with ebay.
EBID is a very different site to EBAY, it has a better fee structure ( there's good news on the facilities for 'silver sellers too- i'll post more on that next week) but a smaller audience, so needs a different sales model to ebay.
I don't know how long you list for on ebay, but if it's taken you three weeks to sell 8 out of 12 items - you've possibly paid up to 36 ( 7 day listings?)listing fees plus 8 FVFs. On ebid ( if you chose to list as a silver seller) you've paid no fees at all so far and your items are still listed.
But you've not made any sales on ebid yet? OK- do you have any feedback on ebid? ( people like to buy from established sellers with good feedback).. Do you get repeat customers on ebay? You could let them know you have similar listings on ebid which ( because of cheaper fees) are slightly cheaper to buy.
Some sellers do well by using ebay cheap listing days to get attention to their products, and use ebid as a place to list their full catalogue. There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0 -

I hear what you are saying but I'm sorry its just rubbish. Most of my Ebay items sold straight away within the first 10 days listing - of the last 4 one has just sold this morning. Now to sell the lot on Ebay - over £50 worth of stuff including listing and FV fees has cost me £2.85. Thats well worth it in my opinion.
As for the Zero Feeback - thats a myth as well - when I started on Ebay I had Zero Feedback and stuff sold just as quickly as it does now.
The simple fact is there is no one on Ebid to buy - or where they are buying they are snapping up the 50p to £1 items which are probably losing the seller money.
Why in Gods name would I want to tell my Ebay customers to come and buy from Ebid instead - & why would I sell it cheaper on Ebid and thus make less money than I could on Ebay - IE what benefit is there for me to pass that 15p saving per item onto my buyer. I mean 15p on £3-£5 who cares......
Ebid just makes no sense to me I will stick where I am thanks.0 -
OK.
There ARE buyers on ebid - because there are succesful sellers on ebid.
I am not here to try and persuade you to use ebid. Clearly it's not going to work for you. I am here to answer questions and share tips with those people who do want to give the site a try. There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0 -
Can you search completed items on ebid?
I listed over 250 items approx 3 weeks ago, I also have zero feedback - not a sniff - ho hum!
