I'm interested in joining eBid and wanted to try a 30 day membership but my First Direct card isn't accepted.
Despite the icon displayed on the page I keep getting the message that Maestro International isn't accepted?
I don't really want to commit to lifetime membership which can be paid through Paypal so what do I do? Anyone, please?

There have been recent rule changes governing Maestro cards, I think it may be something to do with age restrictions and the fact that Maestro is available to almost any age group, but don't quote me, as I'm not sure about this. Some of the eBid pages regarding this change are not yet updated. Email eBid's support team and they should be able to let you know what's needed to get your account up and running.

Why has this only affected Ebid? Maestro is still OK on all other sites, even shopping sites that sell alcohol and shopping sites that sell 18 rated DVDs?

only ebid admin can answer that one. Any ebid user who is effected can email support@ebid.tv
There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid ;)
• Just sold another item - yippee :j

Especially as I think the one I sold last week is going to turn into a non payer  Why do people do it eh?

But this time the buyer has paid before I even had chance to send an invoice :A

I had an ebid buyer who took a long time to pay... then sent a bit of cardboard with coins taped to it. Ahhh, bless. If ebay.uk bans postal orders, cheques etc like ebay.com, then we'll be getting a lot of pensioner power over at ebid from oldsters who don't see what the hell right ebay has to tell them how to pay.

good for them!

these old geezers, if they're anything like my mum I can understand why it can take 'em a while. with these new countrywide free bus passes, it's a wild, wild ride being a pensioner these days... give 'em a chance, they could be on the way back from Lands End.

• Hi ksh123,

I have around 100 items listed (mostly books) and they have been on the site for about 12 months - since I signed up - but they are all items which did not sell on Ebay so I am being very hopeful!

I must get around to listing more goodies

I have gradually seen more and more business pass through the site as Ebay self destructs and things are really looking up here now :T

hope you are right. I remain hopeful....but not overly so :(

You are very dedicated to have listed so much without much in the way of sale for encouragement. Did you go for lifetime membership? Even tho its a very good deal I am afraid of going for it because its a big chunk out of my monthly money.:rolleyes2

• Yes, I have gone for the lifetime membership - but only recently, since they have had the half price offer on.

And I do intend to list a lot more on there - just need to get around to it

Most of my books are on Amazon and I intend to go through my listings there and cherry pick items for Ebid.
