If I can make £50 over a couple of months there, after that it's all jam. (Or do I mean gravy?)

FaceBook - eBid is WAY better than eBay! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6557656454

is the main group on FaceBook + you can use an RSS feed from your eBid listings onto your FaceBook profile.

    MySpace: http://groups.myspace.com/ebid

    Squidoo: http://www.squidoo.com/auction_site_like_ebay/
where you can also use an RSS feed from your listings

    Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/groups/ebiddotnet/
    + http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=102269

All of it is using tags, blogs, images, et al to publicise your listings.

There's an ebid youtube group too http://uk.youtube.com/group/EBID :T
There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid ;)

Wigglebeena if you don't earn £50 then you have the chance to win it! :D
Just make sure you tick the box for receiving their newsletter - someone I know won already. Not sure how long this is running but it appears to be a monthly thing, linked through the newsletter.

  • OK, I've finally done it!
I'm one of the masses who are fed up with eBay's price hikes.
Sorry to say that at the moment I'm way too squeamish to dump them completely. I've decided my compromise is to dip my toe in the water with eBid and so I've signed up and started listing with them also. I also buy quite a bit to, so in future , if it's on eBid and the price is right, thats where I will be buying from. It's only a small thing but hopefully it will hearten some sellers who like me are 'giving it a go'.
    Wish me luck! :D

Like so many of you I'm fed up of eBay and I'm off! (Or will be soon...)
So I want to join eBid as a seller. I mostly sell things of my own or that have been given to me (new and used) totally miscellaneous. In my eBay shop I usually have around 30 items listed at any one time.
So my question is - at what level should I join?
Also, is it difficult to swap from PayPal to one of the other recommended systems. With my small level of sales I can't see the sense in joining too many. Or am I wrong?
Its all looking terribly complicated at the moment  but then I suppose eBay did too at first.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)
  • Hi Debbie, I wish you luck. I think you are right not to close your eBay account any time soon while you try ebid.

My experience of using other sites has been poor. Sure the fees are much less but so are the sales. If you want a reliable income then I doubt you will stop listing at eBay and you will quickly realise where your time is better spent :D I agree it's a good idea to look around your likely ebid categories as a buyer too before you spend a lot of your time listing there. If it is much less appealing to you when you go shopping than it is at eBay then you can imagine how your future customers will feel as they wont think about moving sites to save fees.

I wish ebid was as good as ebay but it isn't and 'optimisitc' reports to the contrary mean people go there with unrealistic expectations and many become quickly disillusioned.

I don't have any unrealistic expectations, I check out eBid first and have found many great bargains there. On the occasion that I find what I like but not at the right price, I ask the seller if they'll consider negotiating plus I post a free wanted ad. I do have full seller+ membership, so I list free and pay no seller fees by using the 'free' oprions and, all of that aside, the best thing I've found about the place is the fact that you can become part of a supporting network. I run one of my challenges on there too, but would never be able to do that on eBay :)

Never be scared to ask a question, that's a good place to start on eBid.

    Good luck.
