See you there and good luck with sales.

I'm tackling my charity listings for next weekend, as I keep running out of time for them and am lagging behind with my fundraising.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • Wow, someone is bidding on one of my items :j :j :j I'm not expecting anyone else to bid on it - you rarely get bidding wars on Ebid, so I should make about £6.50 if they pay by Paypal.

  • Nykmedia, £6.54 profit on first sale of the challenge, will have to update my signature to include it.

Well done! My latest sale has been marked up as paid and they're posting a cheque, so I'll wait for that to arrive before adding it into my total.

Are you aware of the monthly YDC on eBid? It's exclusively for charity listings and runs once a month. I started taking part last year and meant to do much more this year. You get one week to try to raise as much money as possible for your chosen charity and items can be as normal or as silly as you like. It runs every month, beginning the last full weekend, so that's next weekend for the April one. Use the free listing option in the charity / YDC category between 6pm on the Friday night and midnight on the Sunday, all items must run immediately from posting, finish after 7 days and shouldn't be expected to raise any more than £10 (I think that's right, don't quote me) but some items do raise more, depending how many are bidding.

That's where I've set my targets on raising my £500 for charity this year, after breaking through the £400 mark last year :) Next weekend is a very special one for me, as it's also my eBid anniversary, so I am going to do my best to list loads. There's also the added benefit that bidders click through to look at your other items and you can make a few sales for yourself as well ;)

  • My packet weighed 5g less in the Post Office to what I was expecting, so I actually made £6.95 profit.

    Every little helps :T

Game payment received & banked, item posted and I now have another 'buy it now' sale! :j
Motivation beginning to return and I have started updating listings and have looked out a pile of items to list this weekend for the charity sales before concentrating on earning a few pounds extra. I'm 14.3% of the way to my personal target and 6.25% of the way to my charity target. I have a bit to go yet. :rotfl:

    Yes! Let the challenge begin!

Having been a member of eBid for err... 8 years come this weekend and still never having taken enough time to do much with it, now seemed as good a time as any to really get cracking with the long awaited declutter. I do realise that it's not like selling on eBay but that's what makes it more fun as a challenge... could I sell a grand's worth this year? could I raise £500 for charity? As per signature, those are my targets and I have added in what I've raised so far this year. I am now trying to update all my old listings and build my stores. I took advantage of the lifetime Gold membership originally, and over time that has been upgraded free to Seller+ so I would be mad NOT to take advantage of the free listings, relistings and no final value fees. This challenge is about money saving and earning extra, well this challenge is to see how much you can raise WITHOUT paying listing or relisting fees.

Your thoughts on this are welcome, no exchanging of actual details, no posting any links, no slagging off or comparing one virtual sales venue against another and no bad mouthing the competition. This is purely about cutting costs, decluttering and making some extra cash.

    Now, WHO'S IN? :D

    I found you!

I have been stalking Nyk around the forum. And hello Yellowmonkey - nice to see you here!

I don't know if I can put a monetary value on my challenge. My real challenge is that I have eight thousand books in a rather small house and I need to get them at least sorted if not sold by September. I am selling in Amazon but about one fifth of the books (so far) are not worth listing in Amazon so I have tried to find a new way to sell them. Car booty is out of the question as I have a three year old and no one to look after her while I am at car booty.

So - I shall get myself organised and:

    1. set up a ebid shop for all my specialist subject no 1 books
    2. set up a ebid shop for all my specialist subject no 2 books
    3. start listing other books in ebid auctions - shall we say 10 per day?

Any tips and hints about multi listing and making professional looking templates for easy listing are more than welcome. I shall go back on this thread later this evening as I am sure there are lots of answers to questions I haven't even thought of asking yet.

"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

  • Hello Marru, nice to see you here. There is a bulk upload tool on Ebid, I can't remember much about it, but after a few attempts I was successful and managed to upload about 300 books in one go. But, I did have a head start as they were already listed on Amazon and it was just a case of fiddling with an Excel spreadsheet.

Good luck and if I can answer any questions I will, Val is very helpful to newbies (and oldies) too.

    FFM :)

PS - someone is bidding on one of my books :j
