    Hi Val, hi everyone else,

I just wanted to pop in here and give this thread a bump and to recommend the use of eBid to anyone who needs a bargain. As a result of frequenting the online auctions, I was able to purchase a great deal of last year's gifts and, between a friend and myself, we managed to save an absolute fortune over Christmas. So much so that quite a bit of my 2008 gifts budget will be saved this year, as I bought so many bargains last year. Having only £500 for the entire year's gift budget, including Christmas, means that I have learned to make the most of every possible opportunity, so the free listings on eBid have been a blessing in disguise! Have now incorporated it fully into my annual challenges and am planning on trying to earn 25% of my 'Live on £4000 for a year' challenge :D

PS: I missed the 5p listing day on eBay :rotfl:

    Hi
FOund this thread as I was looking into opening a seller+ account on ebid. Possibly for 30 days to see how we go. I currently have an ebay store which to be honest at the moment I don't even make enough to cover the monthly fee, so will probably close it.
I sell handcrafted goods/papercrafts,but also have my usual clearout pre loved auctions or BIN items as well. My last lot of listings I only sold a few of and more were unsold, meaning I've probably spent more on fees.

I'm still unsure of ebid, but am willing to give it a go.
Do handcrafted items have a good place on ebid? I know it is a suffocated market right now, but to be honest out of 3 items on ebay, mainly two, of a similar design but different colours, I am still selling a few a month, so maybe if I had more items I'd do better, I am currently working on building up my creations as I get more time.
I do have my own website, but it's currently being redesigned and a new store put in place, so until then I was looking for a better avenue to sell than ebay, or maybe not better but cheaper and different? Is this the place to go?
I have looked at Etsy, which I believe is from the US, but I need a credit card added and I don't have one I use (only paying them off!).

    any help appreciated.

Hi. seller+ subscriptions are recurring - so you'll be billed every 30 days until you cancel. I'm seller+ but i paid for lifetime a couple of years ago when it was £49.00 for lifetime membership, and i've never had to worry about fees since.

Another option you can consider is joining as seller lifetime (the membership level below seller+) where you can list as many items as you like- for as long as you like- with no membership or listings fees at all. You'll only pay fees if you make a sale, or if you choose to add enhancements to your listings.

If you choose the seller+ route you can have up to five stores free (maybe one for handicraft items, one for your annual clearouts etc..) and you could point your website domain at your ebid store whilst your website is being created.
There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid ;)

    Hi thanks
It's taking some reading into and didn't want to sign up to that one and cancel my ebay one and make a mistake, although I am getting fed up with ebay and not being a huge seller on there can't see it being too stressful.
The life time option sounds good, although at the moment I can't afford to pay that so was going to try a month and see how it goes first, if I think it's going to work, I may upgrade.

I'm just wondering about something - eBid has just recently announced that it's paying affiliates £35 per seller+ sign-up via Google Adsense. This is a hypothetical question, so nobody shoot me down in flames, please, but... IF someone had a website of their own and signed up to Google Adsense, which is free, to pick up the eBid links, would they then be able to sign up for a seller+ account on eBid via their own website link, thus reducing the £79.99 lifetime seller+ fee to only £44.99?  Afterall, as a website owner, they are already advertising eBid and could then offer all their items for sale using eBid's store facilities, payment processing and invoicing. You do not need to list in auction format - it's just as easy (and free, I think) to list multimple quantities with a buy it now facility plus the option of sending out combined invoices. It's like a fully e-commerce enabled website without the extortionate fees. What's more, there's absolutely NO FEES involved if you use basic listings and click through to the items via your own site. Can you do all of the above with eBay? (Must go ask on the eBay thread) I might, just MIGHT, diversify into having properly stocked online stores if the above is the case :D

Hi Val, I already have the Seller+ lifetime membership and have done for some years now (except it was called Gold and then platinum and then seller+). eBid used to do regular offers where sellers could grab the opportunity of a free membership upgrade, which is what I did. I was just wondering how easy it would be for website owners to integrate the eBid sales platform into their own sites and if it would be possible for them to sign up through their own affiliate links. It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out for sellers and my original membership was more of a 'grab it for free while you can' with a 'just in case' thrown into the mix. As a bolt-on for a website, mine is beginning to pay off :)

Just spotted this on the ebid homepage:

48 Hour Offer : Seller+ Lifetime 50% off. £99.99 down to £49.99. No More Auction Fees for Life.
Go To My Subscriptions within My eBid. Don't forget all previous subsciption payments are deducted from this amount
