Talking of monopolies... when you say "excel" do you really mean that it only works with the expensive proprietary Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program, or that it sticks to true standards and is therefore compatible with the many free alternatives running on many more platforms, such as OpenOffice? If it only works with Excel, it seems ironic that a company trying to bust one monopoly is inadvertently furthering another.
No it will work with all the free ones ( open office, calc etc..) tooThere is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0 -
Sorry I've neglected this thread a bit recently. I'm busy running my 5 onlines stores on ebid!. I'll try and put some more tips up at the weekend. For example ebid (and tazbar) allow sellers to intergrate google checkout as a payment option. There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0

Hi,
I have been an ebid member for 14 months. I am a small time seller. I work full time and just enjoy having a hobby. I also sell on amazon, green metropolis and somtimes ebay.
Some of the things I sell would be classed as 'out of print erotica'. For example old Mayfair magazines from the 70's especially. These cannot be sold on amazon marketplace as there arnt listings for them, a shame as you can buy adult DVD's there as long as they are BBFC 18 approved. And green metropolis only deals in books. Meanwhile on ebay they often get removed as they are classed as pornography. Ebid has an adults section (but its buried away in the Whatevers Left catagory) and so it is the ideal site to sell such items. Over the 14 months I've been listing on ebid I've sold over £500 worth of stock from the adults section. Which whilst its not a huge amount is still a reasonable sum. I am sure that if I was able to list these items on ebay they would have sold much quicker. But if you do list them on ebay you run the risk of them being removed and then faceing a ban. I've actually been banned on ebay 3 times, over 3 different ID's, for selling this material. So a big thumbs up to ebid for being open minded enough to have an adults section!
My other stock on ebid is mainly books. These have occasionally been bought in job lots or in charity shops. In this case I put them up for a price that is both lower than the average selling price on ebay and also the cheapest price on amazon. Even if I undercut like this I still make more money selling on ebid than on ebay or amazon.
Whilst not all sellers take this view of offering a product at a lower price then on ebay enough do to make it worth while looking around for items you want. If I decide I want to buy a DVD or a book I always search ebid, amazon, play and ebay and then buy from the cheapest. I've found enough on ebid to be the cheapest to recomend anyone else does the same. The bad point of ebid is that some sellers list for a far too high a price. I guess that because the listing is free some people think they will chance it and try and get as much as possible. As such browseing catagorys is often pointless as you will have to wade through tons of listings that are just too expensive.
All in all a great site to buy and sell from!0 -
I have given up with both Tazbar and Ebid as they are not working for me with the type of item I sell (in a very small way) Shame really but after 9 months without a bid its time to call it quits.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

It all depends on what you sell, how many items you'll list ( ebid works best if use a selling strategy similar to Amazon. list in high numbers because it doesn't cost you anything to do so), and whether you are willing to do a bit of self proimotion or not. Those of us who play ebid to it's strenghts and do a bit to promote ourselves, do make regular sales.
For example I sell books on Amazon and ebid ( I don't bother with ebay- it's not cost effective for me) I put flyers in my amazon sales promoting my stores on ebid.
Ebid is still a great place to buy from too. I got Kate Nashes new album for 0.99p the other week :T Have to confess I transferred it to my MP3 player then sold it for a profit on Amazon :rotfl:There is no such word as "bidded". I bid, you bid, they bid, Ebid0 -

Oh dear, hardly a good advert for ebid to suggest that stuff only sells if sellers are prepared to lose money on the deal, I don;t think our regular ebid users will be happy about that as an idea.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
