Hi nikkio, eBid isn't like eBay, it doesn't have the multi-million dollar marketing plan or shareholders baying for blood, it's a basic one-off fee and then run your stores through it as though it's your own website. If you were a regular seller trading on eBay then it's easier thinking of it as relocating your business - you need to advertise that fact to your own customer base.

 hiya i've been a ebid seller since dec 07 i have the platinum package and was selling on ebay for like the 20th time and decided to try out ebid , i have 63 auctions up (anime dvds) on ebid and all titles have the loads of views but no one buys prices range from $5.99 -39.99 and i flat rate priority mail for shipping for international and domestic. i put new stuff up and it always gets hundreds of views but no sales???? really weird, what am i doing wrong??
I have sold 5 things and that was from ebay customers that i told about my ebid site................. any tips suggestions anyone?
Hi. What's your ebid feedback like? buyers are always wary of zero feedback sellers - if that's you, consider buying a couple of things to get your fedback started. Have you given plenty of information about yourself on your 'about me' page? (you could tell people your ebay username so they can check your feedback there). If you are listing your auctions at a competative price, consider adding 'buy it now' prices to some so that they get submitted to google products by ebid on your behalf. (google product uploads happen 3 times a month) That's about all i can suggest without knowing your ebid user name. Stick with it though- ebid has grown phenominally these past few weeks - breaking through to 400,000 members yesterday:T

I have been looking for some low cost items to try and build up some feedback so that I can start selling. Any suggestions? I often buy books and plus size clothing but there is little selection. Has anyone bought any real bargains?

There are many many thousands of books, what type do you read? I believe theres a good selection of plus size clothes too, it's the smaller sizes and kids clothes that could do with more sellers.

Val, I have been looking for an eBid sellers' thread that will post MSE challenge results. Do you think it would be alright to post in this thread? Not sure if it's going to be a money neutral challenge or 'earn a grand' challenge, whatever it is, I don't know where to post it. Would anyone else be interested in being part of an eBid sellers' challenge? I've already proven that making anything into a challenge makes you focus more and concentrate on the end result, which is spending less and earning more, so... what do you say? Can we pile into your thread? Pleeeeeeeeeease? :)

Edited in: I promise to make the effort to declutter and get my act together on the homemade stuff :) I'll even promise to make a better attempt to develop my MSE-style cottage industry home-based business, as per Martin's official thread :D

  • Val, I think it would be a great idea, it would make me focus more. I've have sold 8 items and should be trying harder.

I already take part in NYKmedias ebid challenges so feel free to post your results etc.. on this thread ( it's a thread about selling on ebid- so i think it fits). Can I ask one favour though- if someones asking for advice and i haven't noticed their post- please shout me!

  • val - thanks - will give you a shout if a question comes up.

Okay, nykmedia - what's the challenge? - I've just been putting more boxes up in the loft - to clear the hallway and it's a bit cramped up there.

    Yes! Let the challenge begin!

Having been a member of eBid for err... 8 years come this weekend and still never having taken enough time to do much with it, now seemed as good a time as any to really get cracking with the long awaited declutter. I do realise that it's not like selling on eBay but that's what makes it more fun as a challenge... could I sell a grand's worth this year? could I raise £500 for charity? As per signature, those are my targets and I have added in what I've raised so far this year. I am now trying to update all my old listings and build my stores. I took advantage of the lifetime Gold membership originally, and over time that has been upgraded free to Seller+ so I would be mad NOT to take advantage of the free listings, relistings and no final value fees. This challenge is about money saving and earning extra, well this challenge is to see how much you can raise WITHOUT paying listing or relisting fees.

Your thoughts on this are welcome, no exchanging of actual details, no posting any links, no slagging off or comparing one virtual sales venue against another and no bad mouthing the competition. This is purely about cutting costs, decluttering and making some extra cash.

    Now, WHO'S IN? :D

  • I'm in.

Not sure about £1000. I would be very happy to make £100 to get my original 'investment' back.

Like you I need to go through all of my listings and make them more appealing, update postage etc to take account of the recent RM Price Rise.

No listing fees so won't lose anything trying. :T
