Hi Marru! Glad you found your way here and I wish you success with your new eBid stores. There are quite a few folks taking part in the selling challenge, which has been running for over a year now. We select a virtual 'top seller' at the end of every month and compile a Top 20 chart. Quite a few of those with their own websites pick up on the links and add them, so it's a little bit extra publicity for anyone involved and it's fun keeping an eye on the 'competition', so to speak
Don't forget you can normally get rid of a few extra items during the YDC charity event. This month's has just started but you should be organised enough to take part next month and you get to choose which charity benefits from any fundraising you do.
I will warn you that it does take a bit of time to get things sorted on their, although that could just be me needing a kick up the bum to make me declutter and get listing seriously! There's a nice bunch of people over there and it's thanks to them that I got up the confidence to post on the eBid and MSE forums in the first place. Now I'm an addict! If I could earn my entire living selling on eBid and writing, I would be in my element. (Now you know my longterm plan.
) :rotfl:
PS: I now have bids on [strike]2[/strike] [strike]3[/strike] [strike]4[/strike] [STRIKE]6[/STRIKE] 7 of my charity auctions already! :jI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

There is a bulk upload tool on Ebid, I can't remember much about it, but after a few attempts I was successful and managed to upload about 300 books in one go. But, I did have a head start as they were already listed on Amazon and it was just a case of fiddling with an Excel spreadsheet.
Good luck and if I can answer any questions I will, Val is very helpful to newbies (and oldies) too.

PS - someone is bidding on one of my books :j
PS I do have my own website but it has been under construction for four months now - one of the things I need to get off the ground. Luckily it will be about the same subject as my specialist subject no 1."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Please can I join the Ebid challenge?
I discovered Ebid in May 2007, listed a few items which didn't sell and gave up  but feel completely silly for not sticking at it reading through this thread and seeing how well everyone is doing.
I really want to make the most of the charity section as I am currently fundraising for a trek of 100km in the Sahara Desert that I am doing in March 2009. I need to raise a minimum target of £2250 to all profits made through sales on Ebid will go towards this. :T
I have just completed my 1st listing and plan to get more on later today so wish me luck.
Also any tips on getting off the 0 feedback starting block will be much appreciated. I have filled in my About Me page and added my Ebay user id where I have a very good feedback record for reference. My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0 -

Hello miss angie, the quickest way to get off the zero feedback would be to buy something. I was lucky because a seasoned seller bought something from me very quickly.
Good luck listing and selling.

Hi Miss-Angie1,
Welcome to the eBid challenge and good luck with your target! Best way to get off the 0 feedback is to take part in the YDC charity auctions, start you 'plug your own auctions' thread and then make the most of the Promotional forum. and, of course, come here and compare notes
We don't have an official eBid challenge as eBay seems to be heavily favoured here, but we'll get there and it'll cost us far less than via any other online sales platform that I can think ofI reserve the right not to spend.

Thank you for your comments and allowing me to join. I have listed 5 items all in the YDC Charity auctions section and am really excited as I have a bid already!!!!!
I will go and have a look at the Plug Your Own Auction thread and join in the fun.
Will keep you posted on my progress. Thanks again!!!!My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0 -
Hi Miss_Angie1, Make sure you keep your listings free in YDC charity event. You need to include YDC54 in your titles (or whichever number it may happen to be - this is event/month 54 since it began) and you also need to include in the description that the item is being listed in YDC54 for whichever charity you fundraise. There is a forum listing all the rules so that your items actually get included in the charity promotions. Good luck with salesI reserve the right not to spend.

I'm always saying that auction sites need to have something that makes them unique to ebay to succeed, and I have the start of an idea for ebid.
Many ebay sellers are concerned about the new rules requiring paypal to be accepted on collected items, so you may have a potential pool of sellers looking to sell bulky items elsewhere. Ebid could design a tool that enables buyers to search for items offered for collection locally and then push that tool and market it quickly while they have the monopoly on this type of sale. Start a real campaign amongst the sellers to all offer at least one item for collection, even if it is just a bulky book or a small box of things, then push it as a headline event.
Encourage sellers who are already advertising their own ebid shops to carry an advert with a link direct to this tool to find local bargains (ebay have a similar tool already) and maybe even offer some sort of incentive to get sellers involved.
If buyers make that one initial purchase from an ebid seller then they may come back and buy more. If you can get bidders on ebid the sellers will follow..
You could even contact the Forum team here and see if you could put a link to the tool into this thread and get some of the casual readers to try out ebid. It is rare to get an opportunity to do something that ebay don't allow so make the most of it.
