Well, Jelly went to sleep without a sound at bang on 6pm. I too went straight to bed and lay with frozen peas vs electric blanket... and dozed off. I woke about 1.5 hours ago feeling much more human, and could get up by myself which was an improvement on earlier, however within half an hour of being upright I was back to the same old issues.
Imagine me, if you will... I am *sat* on the edge of the bed. My left foot is almost flat to the floor, but not quite. the right is on tippy toes, and I am altogether leaned sideways like some comical female hunchback of Notre Dame. I remember going to work like this for weeks on end, where I would progressively sway further to the left as the day in my office chair wore on, limping away.
So, in conclusion, I am currently no worse off than I was at my very worst. That is an extreme bonus. :j
I also definitely knew that this could cause some interim problems. As the good doctor said, my job, and sitting is the WORST possible thing I can do for facet joint disease. However I cannot simply leave my job because I can't sit down now can I. He told me to take 5 mandatory days off work, which shall be completed due to being off until next Weds on my Christmas hollybobs anyway. So obviously he expected some reaction like this. So, I am holding out hope that by Sunday the bruising and swelling will have dropped, and I will be back to at least similar levels of pain to my normal dayand in a few weeks I shall be running marathons and doing the most eccentric of yoga poses in my tightest jeans yup yup!!
;)
The bum is that my usual pain relief is not even vaguely working so I am left with the decision of going med free, or still taking it just in case it happens to feel better one of these times.
On a hilarious aside... when I just went to get a drink, I popped in to see Jelly. In the PITCH BLACK. I could not *see* her at all... so I felt her. I grabbed her hand after rooting around her leg for a second or two. Satisfied that she was both there, and warm, I poddled off. To be greeted by murmuring hmphing sounds as I got to my own door... So back I trotted, once again into the pitch darkness which madam insists on (she even comically turns around the baby monitor as I put her to bed so that the tiny orange light is facing the wall!) and leaned over her bed searching for the source of the hmphing... only to bump noses with her. She was sat up staring at me!! Well staring at pitch black I suppose. Anyway she hung onto me like a limpet, lay down the wrong way in bed when asked and had to be picked up and spun around in order to get the covers back on, whereby she was once again fast asleep.... I think. I was no way poking to check again! :rotfl:
Far better than last nights continuous peeping session everytime she was put into bed... out she came, stalking me.. :rotfl:
apple I do hope DD was asleep earlier tonight!! Much love!
Everyone I am good, and excited by the prospect of feeling much better than this. I feel almost lucky to remember just how bad it was. What better way to test how well this is working than to be plunged back into the worst of it right before it fixes me hmm? Ingenious marketing of spinal jiggery pokery
xx

Lilty, that sounds awful. I am sat here tensing and cringing. Please get better soon. I am sure this has been said by someone else, but ex-work colleague had a back problem and work bought her one of those desks that you can raise up and down so that you can stand up if needed. I think IKEA are doing them now as they are supposed to be good for everyone. I would love one as I'd prefer to stand.
The Jelly in the dark sounds fun. Glad she went down again. Hope she stays asleep. So sorry you are in pain, stoopid pain killers.
Hope you have a restful night. Zzzzzzzzz.
ps. Thanks for your hugs in 883. Yes it (or they) happened a while ago but it still catches me. Very much sadnessbut I am grateful for many things including a fab DD

Hello peepities
Have been so busy catching up other diaries I forgot my own!!
SuperStar;) I know what you mean about it catching you. I too am grateful for my Jellytot who was conceived 6 months after I lost number 1. Lucky stars and silver linings xx
No real sleep again last night and I feel wired right now after so many nights of lying awake fidgeting and staring at the ceiling. So I am stubbornly not turning the laptop off while I try and find a comfy spot. I have been using red tiger balm which has actually helped this evening. I forgot I had it. My sister brought an entire box back from Thailand 15 years ago way before it appeared on shelves over here and have been a fan ever since of the red but not so much the white which is basically Vicks. If I use it in conjunction with an ice pack, then tiger balm and a electric blanket with my pills I might sleep... *yah right*
Today has been almost better. I have accomplished many things. Among them batch cooking that will see me through January work lunches and saved on so much wasted vegand also making jam/lemon curd tarts and mince pies with Jellytot. We had fun and laughs and I lost track of how many times I had to re-roll the pastry because little fingers kept going through it. Eventually she got distracted scooping lemon curd from the jar with her fingers and eating it...
I feel on tenterhooks... waiting! Everything happens on MONDAY. I get my Macbook. My £3600 + interest kicks out. My best friend will be induced if she hasn't already popped... what a day!
Am looking forward to shifting money around. My new debit card for yet another current account turned up yesterday so have set up the account, and even aimed my £20.09 payout from Quidco in its direction. (not til the 7th mind you, as I changed the details and security won't let me pay out now!)
I am adding up little bits of money coming in as I get them so I can put them to good use. £6.20 cheque. £15.09 Quidco (after their fee!)... £110ish NP0wer. I want to build up my £900 *extra* savings as soon as humanly possible to assuage the Mac guilt. I have a habit of absorbing savings once I move them around, and accidentally spending the rest... Or using savings to fund my new regular saver, thus not having any actual extra saved if that makes sense. YNAB shall help me beat this cycle!
Off to ty and sleep now. Tomorrow I shall possibly plan a weeks worth of meals... ^^ don't count those chickens.. xx

Glad you're feeling a bit better - hope you manage to get some sleep.
Well done on all your batch cooking - I would have been lying on the couch feeling sorry for myself.
Glad you had fun with Jelly, kids just love cooking and baking don't they? I used to bake with my nephews when they were wee and they would fight over who got to stir so they had to take turns. :rotfl: The kitchen (and the kids) always looked like a flour bomb had hit!:D
Ooh Monday sounds exciting. :TSuccess is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Hope the pain is starting to ease...
Fantastic batch cooking, you!

sashybo I spent the morning today cleaning the resultant mess from yesterdays kitchen exploits
love it though. We make play doh quite often of a variety of colours
Apple that is a super lovely post, thank you! I am honoured to get your 2000th postI don't deserve it though
Would it make you feel happy if you knew that on the Alpha version of the new forum you've got 5 stars?to my paltry 3
I got 6 hours sleep last night :T and feel a bit more human for it. I am starting to get pre-work jitters. I really don't mind my job. It is boring and stressful and challenging all at once... It is just the being away for so long then going back always panics me. It is why I do not take 2 weeks off at once any more. I've had 17 days off now... 2 to go.
Still no meal plan. Still no bread.
Tonight I am watching the UFC from last night. LOVE UFC. Love the headline fight. Cannot wait to find out what happened.
Tonights dinner (as far as my fridge waste meal planner says) is going to be cooked breaded chicken breasts, sliced and added to lettuce, cucumber, peppers and tomatoes, with a splash of mayo and sprinkle of grated cheddar cheese, in tortilla wrapsJelly won't eat this, so she is having last nights leftover gammon pasta & homemade veggie tomato sauce.
Got to text work colleague to ask him to text me as soon as my parcel arrives. Torn between taking Jelly in the pram, or grabbing a taxi to and fro. Pushing a 2 stone child in a pram loaded with confidential paperwork in freezing fog for 4 miles with a bad back doesn't sound too appealing. Hope it clears up.
Probably off to make bread... wish me luck. It likely won't prove knowing me :rotfl:

I've just made dh a loaf - an old packet mix we had lying around. It rose in the machine like a chef's hat! So much so, I'm surprised it didn't push the lid off! And to cou terbalance that, the rolls I attempted yesterday were like cannon balls!
Good luck!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Glad your feeling alittle better today Lilt, back pain is the worst, joint with toothache!!
I am also waiting on Monday!!
Dinner sounds yummy albeit too cold for me, I like my winter warmers and dodge salad in the winter months!! :rotfl:Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A
