Eager Elephant .. Thanks ever so much for the msg ((((( hugs))))) back to birth you & your DH, I know it breaks my DH heart to see me suffer when I'm having very bad days and there is nothing he can do to help, so I, sure you find it just as difficult. Totally empathise with your DH , chronic pain just takes over every aspect of normal daily life .. It's tough.

My diagnosis has been quite complex as they originally were just saying it was chronic intractable daily migraine due to post viral complications, however they haven't responded to any normal treatment options and back in Feb I requested a 4th opinion and the new consultant admitted me for a week of full on testing were they identified that on top of the above I also have a very rare condition called idiopathic intercranial hypertension , which means the pressure in the fluid around my brain is severely raised with an unknown cause- outcome I am no subject to very regular lumbar punctures to reduce the pressure. In a weird way it feels better to have a more complete diagnosis as at least I know I'm not going crazy & there really is something physical going on if that makes sense.
Ouch! I didn't know this was possible but you're so brave.

Lilt, have you thought of popcorn as a sweet treat for jelly?

    Hello boys and girls.

Lucky because of her dairy free-ness I decided very early on to mostly take the choccies off the table. She barely knows what they are on the shelves at the supermarket, but you should see how excited she gets for grapes, blueberries, plums, oranges. it is quite sweet ;)

Peaty I have to be honest, no I haven't because I personally can't stand the stuff. The bits that stick in your teeth and slide up under your gums... drives me mad. I wouldn't want to give her the salty stuff, but maybe I will see if I can find some non toffee coated stuff for her. :)

loopybecs mien is a morphy richards 6.5 litre slow cooker. I got it online in a sale, might have been Mr S. It was about £25 when I got it and it is gigantic which kind of makes it slightly awkward to wash. Think removing the washing up bowl from the sink and using the whole sink to clean it in. But I don't mind because it makes life so simple with so many meals. :D You can get much smaller ones but I tend to make enormous dinners and split them up in the freezer.

applemuncher complicated indeed but I can't mix and match as each meal per day adds to a very specific total of fat/protein and under 20gms of carbs. So I have to stick with it. I think of it as expanding my tastebuds. The stew was lovely which is a good job as there are at least 2 more portions! I so often end up with such large portions of meals that I freeze it and end up eating the same old rota of food so it is nice that this isn't repeated and I can just find new things. Once I have worked out how to make stuff over this first couple of weeks then I will soon be feeling much better about it and cooking it easily. :) I hope... :rotfl:

Had a poorly Jelly today. She woke me up repeatedly in the night from midnight with a roaring above 40 degree temp. It went down with medicine but back up again after a couple of hours so it wasn't a great night as my fitbit attests. She has also been very snuggly and clingy today so I have genuinely barely moved apart from cooking. Just been snuggled up with her asleep on me. Total footsteps under 5k and she is about to go to bed so I might have to walk around the house repeatedly to even reach 7k :rotfl: but I am tired and I don't think I will get a good night so I will go in the bath instead.

Have a good night all xx

Lilty there are loads of places doing cinema style sweet popcorn these days - I always used to like Aldi's own one but not near an Aldi now and Lidls seems to have more of the corn husks in. It is however very easy to make your own, popping corn in the pan, lightly coat it with oil, let it pop then sprinkle some sugar over it and shake the pan up to make sure the sugar is well mixed in.

I only suggested popcorn because that's what my gluten free sister in law has :o Personally, popcorn is the devil!

I'm sure if you throw in a couple of squats then your fitness thing will forgive you. :P

LoopeyBecs I have a crock pot one as it can go in the oven to keep warm although the keep warm function on it is fab, I just soak it after each meal making sure I dont get the contact points wet at the bottom, with a crock pot the inner is made of earthware so its sturdy and not metal so no cleaning effort needed just a couple of squirts of liquid and a swoosh with a brush :-)

Lilty sorry to hear that jelly isn't well lets hope she perks up with rest tonight, must be awful being ill...

Sorry that Jelly is poorly again :( hope you get a better night tonight. Re slow cookers - I have a 5L Morphy Richards one, that has the removable crock pot thing. Very easy to wash. I'm not adventurous enough with mine I think.

  • My slowcooker is far too small....I got a small one designed for 2 people and I can barely fit a meal for just myself in it! I tend to cook the meat in it and then cook veg separately on the hob, but the pot lifts out which makes it easy to wash up.

Lilty, I got my pedometer from the caravan today and I've done 7760 steps this afternoon :-P

    Ahoy

I am meant to be winding down post walk & bath (my neighbour came to set me free for a walk and to hog the TV ;)) but here I am!!

I didn't know slow cookers came without a crock pot option?! Mine hasn't got metal contacts on the bottom though. It is easy to wash just heavy for weaklings like moi!

Anyway I have covered more than 10k steps, managed my calorie burning goal and gone up 18 flights of stairs. Thank you metropole & cliffs!

Off to settle down into a sleep mode xxx

    Oooh well done Ruth!!!

And thanks for the popcorn thoughts ladies!!! Xxx
