Aha I thought it must include my Basal Metabolic Rate. Was the only explanation. Mine is pretty good hence the high calorie burn I guess.

scubaangel I hadn't but that is brilliant. Have you used endomondo before? Does that hook up?

Ruth I know paneer is easy to make but... well.. I am allergic to milk protein, and when I say allergic, I mean immediate itching red eczema if I get it on my hands. At work they had a hand wash with milk protein in it and I was bleeding  so I tend to steer well clear. The strange thing being I can tolerate cheddar ok, though not some other cheeses and not soft cheese. So weird. :) xxx

  • So is paneer one of the things you can eat?

Naughty of work to have handwash with milk protein and the allergenic ingredient not being highlighted!

I can only recommend not touching it as you make it....utensils or food grade gloves? I'd make it for you....but I think it would go off in the post lol

  • Also r.e. cheddar being okay...I know that the process of making cheese changes the shape of lactose molecules so some lactose intolerant people can tolerate cheese...I wonder if the processing changes the protein molecules as well? Curious....

I have no idea. I have never eaten it. I know how that went with my last 'sod it, just eat it' attempt. A good impression of Hitch with a horrific allergic reaction to artichokes

I am... odd. My body is determined to kill me I think. And it is very inventive :D

As for work, I doubt anyone saw it. it was just a passing note on the bottom, 'with aloe and milk protein' - I think something like 96% of the people who have an allergy to dairy are allergic to the sugars not the protein. And there are very very few indeed who get a reaction rom anything other than ingesting it!!! Like I said, I am weird :D

I spoke to the Dr about it. This is going to sound like I am making it up but I can eat it in sandwiches etc... but as soon as I melt it.. it causes me serious pain. And the Doc could only think that it might be a simultaneous issue with the fats in it. When I have a poorly tummy I can't even eat a biscuit because I react. But when that happens I have to avoid fatty foods too as they make me sick. So no bacon etc..

    Just.. weird :rotfl:

  • Because I've been setting up a food business, I know in food you now have to highlight (i.e. different font/bold, above a certain size font) 14 allergens, one of which is milk (doesn't matter if it's sugars or proteins)...no idea if toiletries are held to the same standard though. If they are not they definitely should be! Imagine if they put peanut oil in it!

  • Everyone has their own weirdness....
I can't eat mayonaise despite having no issue with any of the individual ingredients, since I went on the contraceptive implant I can't tolerate any artificial sweetners (especially aspartememe and asculfame K)...
My sister discovered after I once gave her SLS free toiletries that it is the SLS in toiletries that give her excma (sp?) and since switching to SLS free ones it's totally cleared up. It's a nightmare for her when her laundry detergent becomes 'new and improved' because it invariably means it irritates her skin and she has to experiment until she finds a new one she can use.
