I posted a couple of weeks ago that I had reported my neighbours for benefit fraud and although some posters ageed with me I was also called of kinds of nasty things. Scum, grass, jealous, malicious, net twitching know nothing.

If ever I did anything like that again, I wouldn't mention it on here.

Sorry, but I find this quite simply disgusting. Benefit cheats cost EVERYBODY, not just the people who work. If everyone was proactive on it, the problem would mostly disappear I'd bet.

Such a huge problem within society, people ignoring things because they don't want to get involved or can't be bothered, it doesn't just apply to benefit cheats.

I would report them in a heartbeat. It's fraud, plain and simple. If someone was giving you a huge sob story, so you lent them money, only to find out they were well off and were using your money to fund a nice lifestyle, would you be a bit peeved? I'd be fuming.

Edit: Just read that it's a parent. I'd warn them that I know and that if they don't stop I'm reporting them, and then report it if they do nothing. If the parent isn't bothered to listen to that warning from their daughter, then that's up to them.

Do they tell you who has reported you? I thought it was all supposed to be anonymous!!

No my sister admitted it to another family member. It's is anonymous they don't ask any of your details just the details of the person you are reporting.

You would have to be pretty pathetic to shop a parent. Fall out with them, lose repect, ignore them - but grass them up to the very people screwing the country - the government?

From what I can tell from the OP though, the benefits are being cheated for luxuries, e.g. booze and fags, so nothing to do with him surviving.

No, most people do it so they can buy their cigarettes, booze or drugs, rather than getting themselves a job.

    I was talking in gerneral.

Since when have fags and beer been luxuries - i thought they were vile stinking unsociable addictions :-)

If it was my parent I would give them a deadline where they either need to come clean to the relevant department about the extra benefits they have been claiming and arrange to pay them back or I will report them.

I think just stopping doing it is not good enough they know they shouldn't have been getting that money and I'm sure if they are the one to come clean about it rather than be caught doing the wrong thing they will be treated more leniently. And while 2 years is a long time to have been doing this it will only get worse the longer it goes on.
