I had to chuckle when I got asked to prove I was over 40 when buying alcohol at a supermarket in the US.

As a boy, I remember my grandfather telling me that although his body was 85, in his head he was still 18. At the time I didn't really understand what he was on about as 18 was really old to me then.
  • Incidentally, I'm really happy to hear people who hated turning 30 are more happy and relaxed turning 40 - I'm 34 and also hated turning 30 haha!

On the flip side, A couple of years after getting married, I had just got in from work one day, when there was a knock at the door. I open it, and this guy says "Is your Mum or Dad in, love?"

TBH I can't remember what I said to him. Wish I could! :rotfl:

A young work colleague thought he could insult me by suggesting that I was 38 years old (that being incredibly old compared to his 22 years) ... I'm 44 :rotfl:

My son is always telling me that "your top is a bit tight for someone your age." I'm 48, not bloody 98, cheeky git! (And no, I don't wear age-inappropriate clothing, we're talking about a long-sleeved t-shirt!)

I don't feel my age at all, apart from early in the morning when I've had a late night. I don't really drink anymore because I can't cope with hangovers but I've drunk enough to sink the Titanic in my time so that's no great hardship. I don't listen to Gary Barlow, Michael Buble or Susan Boyle, I don't watch Downton Abbey or Loose Women and I don't have (m)any grey hairs! Technology defeats me sometimes, I have no idea what a "sound bar" is, nor have I ever downloaded an app. (I've got quite an old phone)

I do have a cool ringtone! (Joe 90 for me!)

That used to happen to me well into my 30's

Also, I rarely used the trains back then, and a couple of times when I did have to go on a train journey, I thought my ticket price was reasonable, I had been charged the child's fare!

That hasn't happened for a few years, in fact the opposite now occurs.

A few months ago I went to the cinema with my friend, and she bought the tickets. We thought the price was a bit strange, and when we checked the tickets we realised we had been given an adult and a senior. My friend has dark brown hair, so I don't think they thought she was the senior. I'm 53 and not THAT decrepit yet!

    I've been Money Tipped!
What makes me laugh and applaud the age I am is when one or another of my daughters gets embarassed about s e x matters or comment that takes place in my hearing.

Having had three children as well as a full life, I tell them that I've forgotten more about s e x than they'll ever know.

I'm 63 going on 19 and it's wonderful getting my own back on my kids! (in the nicest possible way, of course :D)

I know how you feel - on one of my old mobiles the ring tone was 'Missy Elliotts' song (I cant even remember what its called) and I answered it, much to the amusement of the crowd of comp kids at the bus stop.
ok, so at 50 odd I was their grans age! I wonder how Black Veil Brides would go down with the current generation?

    I'm 21 (22 in just under a month :j), but still feel 16...and look it too :o

I consider anything over 85 as old, I guess.

I remember when I was 4, looking at the 11 year olds in primary school and thinking they looked like they were practically adults!!! :rotfl:

When I was about 11, I didn't feel like I was practically an adult and I thought early 40s was old...that's the age my parents are now, and they're not old at all. They act like they're the same age as me a lot of the time :rotfl:

A week after 50th getting mailshots from Michael Parkinson selling funeral plans is a bit of a shocker or local restaurant advertising half price meals for over 50's, suddenly catapults you into old age and at one with your mother:eek:
