It's true, sometimes I forget how old I am (26) and think I'm still 18 :p. Although tbh I've always been kind of mature for my age, had friends who were quite a bit older than me etc. I just seemed to get along better with older generations than my own and I've never really thought about the age differences tbh, never really viewed them as old.

    I FEEL 15-16 maximum.

    I am 44.

How I got bought a house, married, divorced, started my business, I do not know. I'm still waiting for Dad to tell me it's time to get up.

Which he did, bless him, even though my alarm was set. :)

I have to admit that when DD was a baby, I was in town and someone said about "the lady needs to come through"

    I stepped aside. :rotfl:

    Yes, I was the "lady".

That's when you're properly grown up in the eyes of the world, isn't it, the first time a stranger calls you "lady"? :rotfl:

I was 18 when a little girl asked her mother, in a stage whisper, "Why's that lady got pink hair?". The mother looked ever-so embarrassed and I was mortified at being thought a lady :D We both had a good giggle at that.

Over 80 is 'old' to me. But then, that's saying 79 isn't LOL. So it's a funny question. I think for example that any age under 70 is too young to die. But I guess someone who is 20 years older than me (so about 69) would say more like any age under 90 is too young to die! :D

    It's all relative.

That's my criteria too - old is 20 years older than me!

  • My grandma is 93 and still going strong, I think she has reached the age to get the title of old. Although she insists she is going to live to be 100!

OK I must be back to front... I have always felt older than I am! (25) I don't think I ever had the mentality of a "young adult"! I skipped that!

I think it's all relative- I have said 75 isn't that old anymore.

I'm just surprised to find how young some of the posters here are.

Yes, old is 10 older than me, now, but it's definitely a state of mind.

My neighbour and friend complained at the way she was going down some steps- like an old woman. Then she remembered that she's 84!

My ex-MIL was 80-odd and used to refer to older people as old. She never ever considered she might be in that bracket lol.

I feel embarrassed sometimes when I talk to my mum and say stuff like the neighbours are all old, and she then says what sort of age... I have trouble digesting that mum's nearly 70 and if I say '70s', it feels sort of wrong that mum's nearly that age. In fact, I though one was 70-odd, but I'm sure she said she's 86!

Dad was 70 when he died and, although it still sounds old in my head, it was no age at all. He always looked a good 10+ years younger than he was. He always told the story of when he was in a waiting room and the doctor called his name. He went to get up and the doc said his name again questionably... and dad said yep... and the doctor repeated it again like Joe Bloggs? Date of birth X/X/X? And dad was well chuffed that they didn't believe it was him lol. He got that a lot.

So I guess over 70 sounds old, but not pushing up daisies old! Anyone dying before around 84 sounds too young to me. I'd like us all to live to 100.

I got a lot of stick in my first job for saying a BF was 'really old' as he was around 29-30. The 2 blokes I worked for were early 30s at that time and I always thought they were well old lol. At 43, I can't believe I ever thought that!

For me I find that it seems to be about peoples attitudes - I found out not long ago that one of the women on the same pub quiz team as me is 80, I'd assumed she was in her late 60's as she dresses 'younger' than I'd expect an 80 year old and doesn't come across as old. Equally my 67 year old Aunt is old to me as her atttitude and dress sense makes her seem older than her years.

We had a laugh when my Mum stopped in town to help an "old lady", who was looking rather nervous, cross the road. When they got to the other side, she patted Mum's arm and said "Thank you, my dear. I'm 67, you know, but I still try to get about."

Mum was 73 at the time.:rotfl:
