This week's update has been done - great overpayments already in June - well done all!
In terms of what is to be classed as overpayments. Personally, I consider it anything over and above your regular mortgage payment. For repayment mortgages that's the amount the bank and building society say you must pay each month. For interest only it would be any payments over and above your interest payment. Each to their own though.MFW 2015 #41 = £20,515/£20,515
MFW 2014 #41 = £26,100/£25,000
MFW 2013 #41 = £10,000/£10,000
Original MF date = May 2036 - MF achieved on 15 June 20150 -
£150 op just made for #50 please, my current total for June so far is £250.
Thanks JCL0 -
Hello JCL,
Thanks for the clarification on what is classed as an overpayment.
Based on your clarification, I need to reset my figures please.
I would like an overall annual target of £12k, £1k per month. Not sure if I will manage it, but that's what a challenge is for, trying to achieve something you feel may be difficult.
So overpayments so far this year are
January £700
February £900
March £1100
April £1100
May £1000
Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.
TxStill striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Mortgage at its worsted £60,000 1999.
Virtually paid off (£12) in July 2009 but new I was moving and wanted to keep the current mortgage. Tracks Bank of England plus 0.49% with a savings pot that offsets the interest.
New mortgage £30,000 July 2009.
Current mortgage £ 23284.71 int 0.99%
Savings pot £ 17384.71 int 0.99%
Diff £5900.00
Current plan to withdraw £17000 to put in 123 account earning 3 % less tax int and earn cashback on mortgage payment.
My aim is to then over pay mortgage and by 31/12/14 to have a savings pot minimum £ 5900 so the combination of 123 and pot is greater then mortgage.
I have 7 pay days to achieve this.
£118 of capital
£19 interest
£843 over pay
Total £981 per month.
I have spent last couple of weeks overhauling finances using MSE and should be able to achieve from monthly pay £ 681 leaving £300 short. I have joined 1% challenge! Earn £5 a day to try and met this shortfall.
Thank you all at MSE :money:From 6/6/14
